  Y'know, I was considering making a whole separate channel for posting my TAs, yeah, but I actually wanna keep a second channel for future plans outside of anything Sonic related, so having a playlist of unlisted videos will have to do.
  
  And believe me, buddy. I only do one take but I have to cut off like an hour of footage... mostly caused by clipping through that damn ramp...
  
  And... wow, that time hits pretty darn close to mine, and good maneuvering on the shifting bridge, I can't get past that consistently for the life of me. I actually had no idea about that Power shortcut near the crossbow, too.
  
  Eggy's a deceitfully fast one, ain't he? That aforementioned friend of mine I was TAing Tournament Edition with was using him and making me absolutely eat dirt. Like, its a racing game so of course he's gonna be fast, but you'd expect Dr. Eggman to be some slow gimmicky character because he can only ride bikes, not actually viable stuff. Shouldn't have underestimated bikes, I guess.
  
  Again, really makes me wonder how much character stats matter or just... he's a popular pick because he's Eggman. Nameless Friend is an Eggman fan after all.

  I just happened to have an email laying around, I did have plans on a sonic-centric YT eventually, so uploading TAs is a humble start for it
  
  Eggman is ridiculously fast, when I originally played on console when I was younger it felt almost like cheating how good the bikes + power shortcuts were compared to Speed and Fly, I've done some testing on some maps and obviously some types have better shortcuts than others but just crashing through things and cutting off a corner seems like a better shortcut than anything-- did you know in Ice Factory that the one rail towards the beginning increases your speed to 400 by the way?
  
  
  
  As a fellow Eggman enjoyer, your friend has good tastes There's more shortcuts I still can't believe existed, there's a breakable wall in Egg Factory that you will only notice bcuz of a slight difference, but in a racing game who is looking for small details like that!? The Sand Ruins powercut makes me nervous every time I try to use it bcuz it's such a tight turn, I recommend trying it yourself to understand what I mean; whenever I'm having trouble moving around obstacles I just tap the triggers lightly to drift a little bit, I find that easier for myself that trying to turn with the control stick
  
  I'm having so much fun already just discussing Sonic Riders, bcuz, well, it's one of my favourite Sonic Games, but it's also not often I get to talk to ppl abt the game and even play together (even if it's not the same console, we're still playing together in spirit!) I love how well you were doing the trick ramps in your Wave video, I struggling a bit trying to grab the Fly Rings that way personally so seeing someone do it so effortlessly is like, wow

  Wow... that is a tight turn. At such a weird angle too... I thought Power-Types were the easy characters! Oh and I'm definitely trying out that Ice Factory grind.
  
  But yeah, shortcuts make this game, since it basically becomes a matter of learning what type is most appropriate for what track. Maybe a Fly-Type is good since they can get the 100-Ring Capsule, but then Power-Types have this super secret shortcut that skips a whole segment of the track!
  
  Oh, and don't even get me started on glitches, but we're far from that just yet.
  
  I think I'm burnt from Riders for tonight, it was just one run but you know damn well how much a single run takes out of you, and man do I remember now why this is one my favorites as well. There's so much little nuance to the movement that makes everything so satisfying, paired up with the Air management and routing and different characters and boards and raaaaaaaaaaagh!
  
  We gotta try out more games next time! There's no better drive than competition.

  haha, yeah I understand; especially when 1 single thing can cause a restart for a run, doing attempts over and over takes a lot of energy mentally
  
  now that I understand how simple my recording program is, and that I can clip videos manually in YT after uploading them, I think there's lots of games I would be willing to record and TA now! (some Sonic, some not hehe) Unfortunately I have lots of Riders energy at the moment, I'm considering coding a page on my website to host my TAs and other Riders oddities since today was a prime example of shortcuts neither of us knew abt and other character stats
  
  ohhh Sonic Mania I did a grind for all the achievements on Steam and haven't touched the game since which is a shame bcuz the last time I touched Mania before that was when the game first came out, I love the game to pieces but coming back to it isn't as fun as I thought it would be-- but Time Attack may be another story... I'm sure other ppl on the forum would love to TA Mania as well, I saw previously there were even contests for TA runs!

  You do that. Your site's a blast (heh) to read through so I'd love to see a Riders page in there. And like heck I'm done with Riders for the future!

  Barely do Splash Canyon with Speed-Type actually, but those Fly Rings at the beginning were too annoying and were way out of the way of the 100 Ring Capsule anyways.
  
  Definitely a flawed run. Fumbled a bit at the second jump and I still have a hard time navigating the ice cave, but I'm super confident on those rail grinds. Really feel Speed-Type is the way to go here.

  Splash Canyon, the one stage I haven't bothered w/ in Time Attack... I know what you mean abt the Fly Rings though, there's so many alternate paths in the stage and I think the one near the beginning isn't even worth it half the time; I'll start my attempts once I'm home later tonight, I'm unfortunately packing at the moment and replying on mobile (so hopefully everything looks okay in this reply)   but this was a really good run to watch I hope I can get a time similar

  I've only done a few runs but wow, I knew your time was going to be difficult to beat but
  
  I tried using a Fly type character after doing a few runs w/ Jet and not being even close to your time, some of the shortcuts aren't really shortcuts on this stage it feels; the best time I could get for now is 02'20''95 with my best lap at 00'44''22. I didn't try to go for the 100 capsule at the beginning to see how naturally collecting rings would go but I think this track is definitely one I need to consider pathing more to see what the grind speeds & fly ring speeds are
  
  I'm going to do some more runs tonight, but I thought it would be worth to show my semi-lame PB for now, I'm also wondering if it's truly faster to ride the rainbow or not at the end... much to think about tonight

  Ooh! Waitaminute! I found how you're supposed to get those Fly Rings at the beginning!
  
  
  (not the right position but I already had to tangle my fingers to grab a screenshot of me charging jump while drifting)
  
  You can actually charge your jump while drifting, so all you gotta do is aim yourself just right, get the right timing and do a jump holding forward and voilla!
  
  
  
  There's actually four 30 Ring Capsules on this upper bridge, so if you land just right, you can get Level 3 faster than going for the 100 Ring Capsule. And when I first pulled this off, not even aiming to go fast, I actually managed to surpass my PB ghost a little, so learning to consistently jump up here is definitely key.
  
  Correction: Three 30 Ring Capsules and one 20... for some reason.

  I'd been trying for almost 10 minutes in Splash Canyon before I finally got to the top platform, still haven't gotten to the Fly rings though; just on top of the platform using a trick... how is this jump so difficult! but you're right, it's much faster to get lv 2 this way and then lv 3 later than going for the 100 Ring capsule right away...
  
  side note: messing around in Ice factory bcuz my previous lap record was 1 min, which I knew was too slow (I also missed the one rail while jumping and smashed into ice right after... oof... I just need to work on consistency while recording and then... THEN I'll have the best runs!)
  
  
  
  I think detailing where all the 100 Ring capsules are for each track would be fun, I've been slowly coding between races so I don't totally burn myself out tonight
  
  side side note: I'm looking at the Pauseless/Glitchless (?) Records for each track atm on speedruns.com and wow... I have a lot of grinding to do if I want to be relevant here! (I know we're doing this just for fun, I'll try TA'ing Heroes or Shadow the Hedgehog later to help make the thread more diverse hehe)

  Tell you what, I'm not too big a' fan of looking up speedruns of games I'm TA'ing. They're friggin' awesome and all, but also a bit demotivating. I find the fun of TA'ing being of surpassing yourself and finding your own METAs so having it in the back of your head all the optimization you could be doing kind of takes away from that.
  
  With that said, I've tried to do an Egg Factory run, but man is it a deceitfully hard track to TA and its way too late at night for me to be hours at this.
  
  
  
  Got so worn out I started wondering what these signs were saying. "ELECTRICAL AREA. Must be kept clear by order of the Fire Commisioner." it seems.
  
  And about doing other games, I haven't even considered TA'ing ShtH... though that'd require me to actually finish that game and oh boy is it a lengthy game. I'll be getting to that. Though Heroes sounds like a really good TA as well, I haven't really played it as much as I wish I did, but I'm already routing out the levels in my head... along with hearing Tails' constant "Whee!".
