  Are you kidding? I would buy a Sega console even if it DIDN'T HAVE a Sonic game exclusive to it! Just give me a new Nights, OutRun, and Daytona and we're good to go! Oh and also bring back light guns and House of the Dead and Virtua Cop. Those need to make a comback too!

  knowing me, i likely would! i enjoy owning game consoles even if it goes relatively underused, i suppose im just a materialistic person lol? i would just hope that they bring more to the table then JUST sonic!

  That would be amazing! They already have quite a few classic franchises being revived. Golden Axe, shinobi, jet set radio.

  If you have the time, it's a documentary on how Sega took on Nintendo who had 95% marketshare and ended up with over 50% in 5 years. It IS possible, but you need a great product, marketing, and leadership.

  
  Just watched it, and after doing some quick research I still think Sega is too late to the market by now, they would need to start today to get two digits market share by the end of the decade at best assuming their competitors make mistakes on the road.
  
  The market isn't just what it used to be 20-30 years ago. The Steam Deck is trying to steal customers by building a system that works with existing games. The Nintendo Switch made the best decision, by merging their handheld and home systems together.
  
  PlayStation is basically repeating the same design mistake the WiiU made. Additionally, we now have Android or mobile gaming.
  
  If Sega wants to compete with a new console, a portable (maybe hybrid) system is the only way to go.

  You're right, the market is a lot different. I still think it could be done with extremely talented and smart leaders with the right product. It just wouldn't be easy not likely.
  
  I would love a Steam Deck and they are doing decent for a niche but not doing anywhere near the numbers that a traditional handheld is doing. That could change though.
  
  What design mistake is PlayStation doing? They are setting records and selling more than ever. 
  
  I do agree that a portable or hybrid is the way to go for Sega. Doing a cutting edge console would cost too much and be too expensive for the consumer. It needs to be $299 USD to be in the sweet spot. Anything more and it would be too much to break through.

  I was referring to the "PlayStation Portal" accessory. They are making the same mistake Nintendo did with the WiiU, which Nintento then fixed with the Switch. A pseudo portable system just doesn't cut it since the WiiU, Valve is filling the Market gap with Windows/xBox as Microsoft doesn't seem concerned about it yet.
  
  I think portable or hybrid is the only way to go, there are already plenty of small companies building and selling portable handhelds, mostly emulator kind of consoles. So there is definitely a niche there if Sega was still interested on the matter.
