Debate question: Are ride-hailing companies a benefit to society?

I suppose so. Some say they are putting taxi cabs out of business but its also creating work and income for the people who drive uber/lyft. Its also super convenient for a consumer like me to just do a few taps on my phone and a car magically appears to take me wherever I want to go. No need to stand out in a street trying to flag down a taxi. If you're in a remote area... good luck. -

Technology is meant to improve the quality of life, in that sense, yes they are a benefit to society. Although they need to be regulated as employers and drivers as employees. Otherwise, the benefit might as well be outweighed by the drop on labor guarantees for some sector of society. -

It is nice, although it doesn't work on my phone I don't think. I can't use Google Maps because I installed an OS that doesn't allow Google by default. I think I've only really used it twice.
