I think the games on the MegaDrive were really good. Although out of the classic games, Sonic 3 and Knuckles is my favourite. Sonic 1 and 2 were good, but they had the levels I disliked the most, Labyrinth Zone and Metropolis Zone. What are your thoughts on the classic games.

Yeah probably most people would like S3&K most. I grew up after those games so they don’t offer the nostalgia that the Adventure games do to me but I have gone back and played them. I agree with hating some of the zones although I didn’t like Carnival Night or Chemical Plant. Somehow I always drowned.

Never played CD though, should I?

CD has my most hated level of all time, Wacky Workbench, but I think everyone’s gotta try it at least once. It does have lots of neat ideas although a lot of the gimmicks in the game don’t have the same impact as they would have when it released. Back then it was like whoa so advanced! Now it’s like oh that sounds cool... I guess.

S3K is my favorite 16 bit title, but my favorite 8-bit title is Sonic Chaos. I also love Sonic CD as well! My least favorite classic Sonic game is probably Blast, especially on the Master System. As for the special stages Blue Spheres is my favorite stage, with the Sonic 1 SS being my least favorite.

I'm not a big fan of Sonic CD. I didn't like that you had wait for the spin dash to build momentum before you could use it. I never had a Mega CD/Sega CD, so I first played that on the Sonic Gems Collection. The only Sonic games I played on the Sega Master System were Sonic 1 and 2. I never had a Game Gear or a Sega Saturn, so I first played Sonic R on the Sonic Gems Collection too, and I didn't like it.

I like the game but it’s not my favorite, mainly because it’s too easy. On the opposite end of the spectrum I have grown to appreciate Sonic Spinball a lot even though it’s so hard I can’t even beat it.

I'm going to replay Sonic Spinball, it's been a long time since I last played it. It is tough, I don't think I made it past the first or second level. Another tough game I think is Knuckles the Echidna in Sonic 2. Knuckles can't jump as high as Sonic, so it made the Metropolis Zone boss more challenging. I only completed that on the Sonic Classic Collection for the Nintendo DS because you can save the game.

I think Sonic 3D Blast is my favourite out of all the Classic games. Call me crazy, but I really enjoyed the level design and music, and was able to look past Sonic's floaty control. I understand it's a little divisive, however, so other than that, I'd have to say Sonic 3 and Knuckles. All of them are great, though ^_^

Sonic Blast was on Master System? I thought it was only on GG? Interesting, yeah it's by far the UGLIEST game of that era. I can handle the 8 bit games but not those graphics.

I do love me some 3D Blast purely for the soundtrack.

I could never finish Sonic 3D. I found it tough to control, and I only got past Green Grove Zone and Rusty Ruin Zone. And I didn't like the special stages in that game. It's another game I might try to complete sometime.

Does anyone think Sonic Mania could be included in the discussion? Although it's on modern consoles and pc, it looks like a classic Sonic game, and it seems to take place after Sonic 3 & Knuckles.
