The leaker Zippo is claiming Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles will be making a comeback in a new Sonic collection. This was the information shared over on their blog page:



The reference to it being "impossible", is likely tied to the legal issues surrounding the music in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 - some of the tracks were apparently composed by Michael Jackson but went uncredited. In an attempt to not go off on a tangent here, it seems Sega could have finally worked out a way to revive this classic.

This guy has been reliable in the past and this would be perfect for a 30th anniversary collection.

One of my favorite games of all time is coming back? I hope this is true. It would be refreshing to see this in a collection again. The Genesis collection on Switch only had Sonic 1 and 2

Yup which is why I didn't get it. The PS3/360 collection had both Sonic 3/S&K but you couldn't lock them on and were forced to play them separately.

WHAAAAAAAT?! Now that just ain't right!

I wonder if the changes mentioned are what we were speculating on the other day, a change of soundtrack to get around the legality issues. I'd love to get it on a modern console though, so this is all around pretty great!

I think being the 30th anniversary they probably were willing to pony up the dough for the music. If this collection is real I hope it's a definitive edition. Have everything Mega Collection Plus had AND Gems collection in one. Heck, might as well have the handheld games in there too. Put in the Advance, Rush, and Rivals games in there.

I hope they could add in the obscure titles, like Sonic Pocket Adventure, or even Sega Sonic The Hedgehog somehow! That would be something all of us would probably just RUN at if they managed to get them into it! hehe

Yes! Modern disks hold 100GB of data now so outside of all the newer stuff like Forces and Team Sonic Racing, I would bet they could put ALL Sonic games into one gigantic collection including those obscure ones! Even put a web portal in-menu where you could purchase and read the comics. Ahhhh how it's fun to dream!

If we do web portal, maybe they can include the classic Sonic flash games of old. Not the too weird ones (Newgrounds knew no limits), but some of the goofy ones. Like that Flash advance. I'd play it again if I could without risk of bad downloads since it was a wonderful fan game hehehe
