• Which version of Generations had the best stages?

I never got to play the 3DS version of Generations till recently but I was always jealous of some of the zones that it had compared to the console versions. Not talking gameplay, what version do you think had the better levels? Obviously the 3DS has less overall but Imo it has more interesting stages.
    • 1st stage both were Green Hill so nothing different here.
    • 2nd stage has Chemical Plant and Casino Night. Both are highly recognizable zones and probably close to equal but Chemical Plant being the 2nd zone in Sonic 2 gives it a slight advantage. That said, Casino Night is the better stage imo.
    • 3rd stage has Sky Sanctuary and Mushroom Hill. This one is a bit difficult for me to pick. I find Sky Sanctuary to be the better stage but Mushroom Hill was the first stage in Sonic & Knuckles so it has more nostalgia for me. I call this a wash.
    • 4th stage has Speed Highway and Emerald Coast. While I love Emerald Coast, I give the nod to Speed Highway.
    • 5th stage has City Escape and Radical Highway. For me I've always liked Radical Highway better than City Escape so that gets the nod from me.
    • 6th stage has Seaside Hill and Water Palace. Water Palace is just much more interesting than Seaside Hill imo.
    • 7th stage has Tropical Resort and Planet Wisp. This is a toss for me but I'll give the nod to Planet Wisp.
    • Console version has two more stages with Crisis City and Rooftop Run.

I like them both, even if I was very late to the Generations party since I got my new PC a few years ago. Before that, 3DS was my source for Sonic Generations. I always loved how the classic levels on the 3DS version actually share the same exact layout as the original Genesis games. It was a nice touch, while the console/PC version had original level layouts with classic Sonic. The 3DS ones were like remastered levels. Also loved Emerald Coast made it to the 3DS version.

I prefer the console level choices but I do wish we got mushroom hill!

As much as I'm tired of the rehashing of old levels(which is why I'm glad SuperStars was all new), I still wish we had gotten Generations 2 with more obscure levels from the past.

Could you imagine Wacky Workbench in 3D?! Big Grin

I would probably kill myself out of frustration! My least favorite CD level.

No way, it was wacky! Cool Big Grin

Anyway I will just chime in and say that I like the console choices better. Sky sanctuary is the shizz and chemical plant is a classic.

I think it would be awesome too! It would be cool if they just ported these extra levels to Sonic X Shadow Generations. Not for the main campaign but maybe unlocked as extras after completing the levels.
