With the Genesis mini’s 42 games finalized we’ve seen yet another collection skip Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles. I guess it’s pretty clear that they a) either don’t want to pay for the licensing or b) can’t pay for it. Taxman already tried to port it to his engine and was turned down. So what should the future hold for this game?

Should we just forget about it and put it to rest? Or should they replace the tracks that require payment such as Ice Cap and Launch Base? Would you be okay with them replacing the music or would you prefer them to not touch it?

well there is another option to play this game.
It s a word that rhymes with the word smemulation
and if that stops being an option well there are some rats with pies out there

I love Sonic 3 & Knuckles looks like It's never going to happen If they do another Genesis Mega Drive Sega games collection In the future. So I don't know what's going to happen with Sonic 3 & Knuckles.

Yeah that's the other option to played It on. I do that on my Nvidia Shield TV Android TV box.

I have the Sonic Classic Collection for the Nintendo DS what has the first four Sonic games from the MegaDrive including Knuckles the Echidna in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Sonic 3 & Knuckles. That was released in 2010. I don't know why now Sonic 3 & Knuckles can't get released again either on the MegaDrive mini, or if there is a new compilation classic Sonic games. If the music is an issue, change it.

It's an option for sure but not everyone wants to be stuck using a PC or hacked system. For me emulation is a pain because hooking my laptop up to my TV is a hassle.

I say do it anyway if it means we get it. I love Ice Cap but only a few stages would have to be changed not even a majority of them.

I just don’t get how the Jackson estate can hold royalties on it if Michael wasn’t even credited.

@ I just don't think I could handle Ice Cap without the original music. I say release the game with changed music but give us the option to load music into the level similar to Sonic Generations but instead of being on the game through a thumb drive so we can just change the music to whatever we want including the original or remixed versions.

Honestly I'd be okay with the Sonic and Knuckles Collection stuff if it was released in the SMD soundfont. Some of the stuff in that version was pretty inoffensive to listen to.
