  I found this video on Youtube which shows an interview with Gabe Newell talking about Valve's work on brain computers.

  I'm curious about everyone's thoughts on this. I think it is good progress concerning medical stuff like robotic arms and legs for those who are missing limbs but what has me concerned is how it could influence human behavior. He talks about the potential of influencing a person's emotions and talks about how it could help to sleep. He also talks about how it could replicate pain in the brain which I find also concerning.

  No thanks! While it is intended for good, any computer can be hacked and that makes your brain hackable. Anything created for good can be used for bad(see the splitting of the atom for example or the internet).

  Personally don't think we have the requisite understanding of the brain's function and/or the nature of consciousness and intelligence to really pull that sort of thing off.

  I would rather die than allow myself to be chipped in the brain for any reason whatsoever. There's a level I would never allow myself to use used in all this tech madness.

  I mostly agree. I'd would not only have to be cheap, but also useful in ways we could only dream of for me to buy it.

  But seriously, our excessive dependence on high tech will most likely be the end of us if the world isn't careful with what they do.
