I just have a difficult time disassociating the two! And I 100% agree it was a great composition, but, it gives me some rough flashbacks now hehehe. Similar to Labyrinth Zone, though not quite as awful. Labyrinth Zone definitely is worse, given they basically gave it a 4th act with Scrap Brain Act 3! *cringe*
Also, not sure if you read above when I mentioned that fan music project with song recreations and interpretations, but if you did miss it, you should try to look it up as it has a really amazing jazzy cover of Casino Night! -

Yeah I understand that for sure. It can be hard to find pleasure in songs associated with something you dislike.
Yeah I did but haven't gotten around to listening yet. I do love fan tracks though! -

Fan tracks can be pleasant more often than not. I also found it strange, on that release, that one of the folks who made a song for it (Doeseone) is an artist closely affiliated with a band I absolutely LOVE that strangely has nothing to do with the Sonic franchise. A sort of bridging of interests past to present I suppose hehe -

Hard to make a top 10 list without it being all just the main vocal tracks for their respective games (Open Your Heart, What I'm Made Of, etc) since all of them are tear-jerkers for me since I listened to them so much when little. Reach for the Stars from Sonic Colors specially consistently makes me sob like a Victorian mother at all the good memories it brings, so I'll exclude those types of tracks along with character themes from the list for the sake of variety. Also keeping it one track per game.
I have a really hard time picking favorites since really, I believe every song to have their respective "vibes", and thus can be enjoyed differently and, frankly, I'd make this more of a top [insert number of literally every Sonic track known to man here] list, so... do keep that in mind.
With that said, we have:
