Oh goodness I LOVE this topic idea! I'm digging around to see what topics are out there and if ideas I have are fresh or not, and some of these I find are just GEMS! All of these lists are awesome, good picks everyone! I especially gotta shout out to @
for hitting us with so many of the hard classics! hehe!
Okay, let's see if I can whip one up! If you want to make it fun, like a WatchMojo countdown of sorts, read the next portion from bottom to top
hehe
1. "Star Light Zone (Masa's Demo)", the original composition that was used for Sonic 1, but uncompressed!
2. "Open Your Heart", by Crush 40 for the original Sonic Adventure. Always a bop!
3. "Sweet Dream", by Dreams Come True. Okay, this one is TECHNICALLY not a Sonic song, but all the same, it is! It's an early 90's J-Pop hit that wound up repurposed as the Ending song for Sonic 2. (Go compare them, and you'll pick up on it real fast!)
4. "Bridge Zone", from Sonic 1 8-bit for Master System and Gamegear. That song is just a catchy fun tune, and I suspect inspired Janet Jackson's song "Together Again". (Again, go compare, you'll see!
)
5. "Live And Learn", by Crush 40 for Sonic Adventure 2. At one point this held my top spot, and will ALWAYS be an amazing tune!
6. "City Escape", by Jun Senoue, Ted Poley and Tony Harnell. This one was an instant classic on SA2, and a perfect opener for an amazing game! Also, it was included on the first major Crush 40 release, despite not featuring lead vocalist Johnny Gioeli. Just a fun fact hehe
7. "Hidden Palace Zone", from the Sonic 2 Sound Test. From what I recall, this was music intended for the original "Hidden Palace Zone" that was scrapped late into development, but the song was likely accidentally left in the Sound Test, and it always carried a mystery of what could have been with me! I love it!
8. "Midnight Greenhouse - Botanic Base", from Knuckles Chaotix. I was fortunate to own this game and a 32X in my youth, not realizing the add-on was essentially life support for a then dying console. But while the game can be frustrating, I always fount the visuals to be breathtaking and the soundtrack to be PHENOMENAL!
9. "Event: The Last Scene", by Fumie Kumatani from Sonic Adventure 2. This instrumental carries some WEIGHT, being the backing track to the very end of SA2. And given what we were lead to believe in that ending, it will always feel powerful, sad, but hopeful. Not to mention, the piece on it's own is so beautiful and calm. Give it a spin if you never have! It's on Youtube I'm sure!
10. "It Doesn't Matter", by Tony Harnell from Sonic Adventure 1 & 2. Now, I know there are two versions of this song, and I can never decide which I like better, so they both tie for the 10 spot! I guess it depends on the mood you're in, doesn't it?
