  Music is one of the big parts in the Sonic games, as well as the shows. To me some of the soundtracks are great. Even if you're not a fan of the game, the soundtrack it's based on could still have good music.
  
  One of the soundtracks I like is Sonic the Hedgehog CD Original Soundtrack 20th Anniversary Edition. I'm not a fan of Sonic CD, but I do like the soundtrack. Sonic the Hedgehog CD Original Soundtrack 20th Anniversary Edition has the music from the Japanese version of Sonic CD as well as two versions of the song Sonic Boom, the original and another version by Crush 40 and a remix of Stardust Speedway. It's a really great soundtrack.

  The Sonic series, outside a few(Sonic 4) all have great music and even if the game is bad you can count on great music! My favorite, which I feel is underrated, is Sonic 3D Blast. Both versions are good but I prefer the Genesis soundtrack because that's what I grew up with.

  Hmmmm, this is a toughie since most Sonic games has pretty good soundtracks. I'm kinda stuck with Sonic 2 and 3, Sonic Adventure 1 and 2's soundtracks. Most, if not all of the songs play in the games I listed above are very catchy, even one of them is my ringtone!

  As divided as I am on the game itself, I'd be lying through my teeth if I'd said SA2 didn't have a brilliant soundtrack. As I type this, Mission Street and Pyramid Cave drift through my head. Shame they didn't bring back the Chao race music from SA1, though... One, two, three, FOUR!
  
  On top of that, I gotta agree with Metallix in that Sonic 3D's OST (both versions) is awesome! Saturn Rusty Ruin Act 1 is almost as good as RR Act 2 on Mega Drive.
  
  Other than those two, the US version of CD has a pretty nice soundtrack, imo.

  My favourite soundtrack from all the games is Sonic Adventure. I think the music to the levels are awesome, and each level has more than one theme. Windy Valley has three themes Windy Hill ...for windy valley the theme at the start of the level. Tornado ...for Windy Valley when you're in the hurricane. The Air ...for windy valley once you left the hurricane. Which sounds like the music from the Green Grove Zone act 1 in Sonic 3D.
