  Just played this the first time today, just did one round. I would have loved the game as a kid when it originally launched but didn't have access to an arcade that had them. I think it's fun but extremely simple, almost too simple from what  I've played. Anyone else have experience with this game? What are your thoughts?

  That's a game I am quite curious about but I will have to wait till I get my hands on the Sonic Gems Collection. It has introduced a lot of new characters like Bark, Bean, and Honey.

  I would like a sequel or a sequel to Sonic Battle. It's nice, but you can tell it's very dated. Still, it's quite cool but there doesn't seem to be any progression like Tekken where you unlock characters after beating a final boss with one character. Everyone's unlocked.

  it's on XBLA and PS3/PSN (rip).
  the xbla/psn version added Honey, Eggman, and Metal Sonic as playable characters, and also added online play

  @"PiForUAll" I got it on PSN through PS Now. I didn't see those characters, do you unlock them or something?

  I had first played this through Sonic Gems Collection many moons ago, but more recently went for acquiring it on XBox One. It is a button masher if ever I knew one, but the novelty of a Sonic fighting game doesn't lose it's luster all these years later. If anything, the more jagged polygon visuals and retro character designs showing through make it all the more enjoyable! And the modest stage designs that mimic well known stages at points is always a treat! I know this game gets a bad rap from many people and removing the Sonic concept I would absolutely understand why, but because it is in it's own way a gem of the Sonic releases, I think it's a fun little run through!

  Haha agreed. From what I played it did seem like a button masher. I'm wondering if there is any depth to it later on or if it stays the same but just gets harder.

  I wonder if "Honey the Cat" is present then in the one I got on XBox store recently. I'll have to look into that. Curiosity... kills the cat. Hehe

  Oh I'll for sure find time to watch that and I should give it more time and actually get through all of the fights.
