Sonic Superstars managed to land the 9th spot in Circana's sales charts, which tracks US video game sales. The Circana charts are released monthly by Mat Piscatella, Circana's executive director and video game analyst, via his
Twitter account. For any old farts who don't know, Circana is just a new name for the NPD Group, which has been tracking video game sales in the US for decades.
Circana doesn't provide sales numbers, but this at least confirms that Sonic Superstars sold well enough to chart in the top 10. For comparison's sake, last year's Sonic Frontiers charted in the fourth spot when it launched. The chart counts both physical and digital sales, and ranks them by dollar sales rather than units sold. This does technically give $70 games like Spider-Man 2, Madden NFL 24, Mortal Kombat 1, and NHL 24 an edge over $60 games like Super Mario Wonder and, of course, Sonic Superstars.
