In the Game Awards, Sephiroth, the main antagonist of FFVII (Final Fantasy 7), was announced as the third fighter for the second Fighter's Pass for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for the Nintendo Switch. Do you have any thoughts on this announcement?
I have never played FFVII but I have heard of Sephiroth and I think his trailer was one of my favorites. Ridley's was one of my favorites because of how dark it was with him killing off Mario and Mega Man. Seeing Sephiroth look like he impaled Mario with a sword looked amazing to me.

That's just a weird character to add, imo, but so was Cloud. Seems like a good addition though. -

I don't think Cloud was that weird of an addition. FFVII was HUGE for the RPG genre of video games. Sepiroth was also a huge villain in that game and is one of the most popular video game villains. Not to mention his theme is amazing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDD-iYkHBhc -

Yeah but it would be if you lived in that era. Cloud has always, and still does represent PlayStation. I get that Smash Bros has transcended the Nintendo game representation but I still think of it as a Nintendo character fighting game and now it has a bunch of characters that don't represent their heritage.
But that personal bias aside it is fitting that Cloud has another character from his universe in the game.
