So just announced yesterday, the folks who do SatAm fan comics are in the works for an animated version of Season 3. Honestly, I find this pretty exciting if they can pull off a whole season worth of episodes. They've been releasing comics for years but have recently come into contact with more talent to help get an actual cartoon version. Will you be watching it when it releases?

I can foresee no lawsuit problems with this at all.

@"Kurisu The Wolf" well... They've been making comics for it since 2009, I don't know if anyone cares legally as long as they don't profit. lol

@"Metallix" They have a patreon, reguardless of if it goes to the upkeep of the show or not that could be seen as them profiting from this.

Ah... I did not think of that, I was just thinking of it as a way to fund it but it could be argued that it is being used for profit. Hmmm. I wonder if DiC Entertainment owns the rights to this, if so I could see that being a problem but if it's up to Sega I think they'd probably let it slide.

Dic no longer exists, after Cookie Jar bought Dic they merged then lost money and closed down.

Shout factory now owns sonic satam and has a partner tv deal with Comcast X-Finity on Demand plus airing I think on Stars network... Or is it HBO, I don't remember.

A season 3 made by fans? Sounds interesting, but we all know sonic fan projects never get finished and all we end up with are demos, tech demos or projects getting cancelled.

Well first: Dic doesnt exist anymore
second: Archie doesnt own the SatAM characters despite popular belief that they do
Third: Sega owns the SatAM characters and dont give a bowl of poo about them so fair game.
I stated earilier in a bumblecast from Ian Flynn and he said that Sega owns the rights to the SatAM characters not archie or Penders and i quote:
If you want to see more adventure of Sonic with the FF, you can always create more fan stuff
If you want to see them in official capacity, you can write into IDW and ask them to show up in the book
You are in good company, there are alot of people who want them back. The more hard evidence IDW has w/ letter/email/tweet/whatnot (CIVIL&SUPPORTIVE, mind you) it gives more basis to say “SEGA, look, they’re requested for years now, People really want them back, can we have access to them?”

This is said in Bumblekast 90 by the way, and Flynn said something to that effect all the way back in 2010 too when he took over as archies lead writer.

That's very interesting. I wonder why they decided to not use those characters after the publisher switch?
