  Who is Sara?
  Sara is a human with a cat-like tail and the daughter of the president of South Island. She made her first appearance in the Sonic OVA.

  This is honestly one of the very few Sonic characters that I have any real criticisms about. I love almost every Sonic character for a variety of reasons, including human characters / extended universe characters (e.g. from Sonic X, comics, etc). But Sara the Catgirl is one of the very few I dislike.
  
  Reason being, she is not truly a real character, but rather a caricature of overused anime archetypes. She feels out of place in the Sonic universe, and seems more intended to be a joke / meta-reference than a serious character. Furthermore, I dislike the notion of "catgirls" in general as it's a fetish. Robotnik was also very creepy in that movie in regard to how he interacted with the young "catgirl" character, which left a bad taste in my mouth with the OVA overall.
  
  I may be overreacting to what was possibly intended to just be humor. But due to my line of work, I've seen too much real darkness to have any tolerance left for these kinds of jokes. I don't like seeing characters sexualized, I don't like seeing fetishes, and I don't like seeing older characters creep on younger characters. This is inappropriate in general, and doubly so for family-friendly media such as Sonic.
  
  I still do like the OVA overall, but nowhere near as much as many and this is the primary reasons why.

  I have to agree here. Human characters aren't out of place but Sara being an anime trope really does seem that way. She could have been less sexualized and have no tail and be fine. I also don't get how she is so nonchalant around Robotnik. Almost completely oblivious.
