Oh, this takes me
back to when I used to search "LEGO Sonic vs LEGO Mario" or or "Sonic IRL" some variant of that every time I went to to Youtube. Sonic the Hedgehog - The Live Action Film has to be like,
the Sonic video from back then, it's a classic!
I could go on and on about all the videos I'd watch of stop-motion or just some kid playing with Sonic figures because I couldn't afford any toys back then, or
the best video ever made by a living being.
But instead, I'll be showing
this to the class.
BE WARNED. IT'S A FLASH ANIMATION FROM EARLY 2000'S NEWGROUNDS ABOUT AMY GOING ON A RAMPAGE FOR SONIC. IT'S NOT EXACTLY KID-FRIENDLY.
Everything about this video makes me nostalgic. The low audio quality, sound effects in general being mish-mash from various sources, the overabundance of blood, immature humor, the custom sprites, and actually kinda cool fight choreography.
It's interesting how I barely remember any of this animation before re-watching it after years, but then it all slowly comes back to me as I vividly remember some scenes. Crazy stuff!
Actually, on a bit of an off-topic nostalgia trip, it's not much of a spoiler to say that Amy turns super at the climax of the animation because of course she does, and that Super Amy sprite is by far the most nostalgic thing about this video for me.
This
Super Amy sprite pack by FroggyMudd (Unfortunately, I couldn't find the original upload) is what I see as the perfect representation of my Sonic nostalgia. At a time where Amy having a super form was a big deal, sprite sheets would provide separate head, body and limb sprites for more dynamic animation, and Sonic Advance/Battle sprites we're the go-to for Sonic sprite animations and edits. And they still are!
Sorry, went on a little side tangent, but the nostalgia is real!
