  Has anyone played this yet? I haven't gotten around to it. Heard pretty mixed things, but that doesn't surprise me whenever Sonic is involved.

  I haven't played it. Not because the game doesn't interest me, but because it costs $60. That's the same price I paid for Frontiers.

  I haven't played it yet either but I'm really disappointed in its reception. It looked so good pre-release, but it seemingly is just an "ok" game with lots of flaws.

  Agreed. I had high hopes for this but it seems the game isn't bad and does offer a lot to like(and not like) but they got cocky and assumed they could price it the same as a 2D Mario game.

  I finally got my hands on this game and beat the first two zones and bosses. My initial impressions are that the single player aspect is just as good as Mania. That may change as I play other zones and I haven't even touched the multiplayer part so I can't assess that.

  Funny you should mention that. I also got the game today. I really like the main stages I've played so, but I'm not fond of the special stage gameplay.
  
  The Emerald Powers are still neat, though.

  Yeah I don't like getting the emeralds and I even liked the Sonic Heroes special stages that everyone seems to not like. I just got past and beat the casino zone and so far I'm digging the main stages. It's how a real Sonic 4 should have been. That said, I have barely touched multiplayer. I did play 2 player with my son in the main stages and it wasn't bad imo. We kept getting lost and having to respawn, but you just press one button and you warp back to the player on the screen. It does make special stages harder though.

  I've only unlocked 3 emerald powers so far but they seem pretty cool and Sonic getting powers from each individual one just seems like the next logical step in the series.
