RE: Sonic Rumble

So I haven't been able to try out Sonic Rumble proper when it came out, it'd just give me a black screen every time I entered a match. But recently I decided to download it on my phone again and it seems like the game was optimized to work on my phone now. Neat!
I'll be honest, I already have a major bias against free-2-play mobile games and battle royales. I think one is a leech on your life and the other a randomized waste of time. So suffice to say it was exclusively the Sonic branding that got me to play this game, and with pretty low expectations at that.
Though I was pleasantly surprised that it's like... not the worst thing in the world?
Don't get me wrong, it's still daily login, ad reward, season pass, FOMO hell as is to be expected. But the game itself once you get into it actually has a bit of a Sonic feel to it. Speed platforming with emphasis on routing and shortcuts, just now there are fifty other players that can knock you off-course, but at least player interaction is rare. It even has a ranking system!
Granted, I've played very little of the game in very short one-game bursts, but I'm overall positive on this small experience I've had. I doubt I'm gonna be playing for more than a month or so, or maybe less if the games starts showing it's true colors once it feels like its got me hooked, though again, not worst thing in the world.
I wouldn't say I recommend it, more so relieving any suspicions that the game is a completely worthless Fall Guys clone. Plus the character models are cute.
