note: I'm unsure if this should be tagged as News or Rumor, so I'm going with Rumor since there's no official statement from Sonic Team or Sega, and only one person has confirmed this to be actual footage
youtuber The Sonic Show, has a Japanese trailer for the rumoured game Sonic Toys Party, which was originally leaked by Midori on twitter saying there would be a "Fall Guys" type Sonic game to release. The Sonic Show talks for quite a bit about the footage before showing it in full, music and all, at about 6 mins into the video below
Midori has confirmed on twitter that this trailer is internal beta footage of the game, and thankfully that's the case bcuz LSMark on twitter pointed out that SEGA is once again using a fan render for one of the menus
what do we think so far? there's a few things I want to talk abt for sure... -

I have been following The Sonic Show for quite some time now, and I have to admit that they have been pretty accurate with their rumors in the past. However, the latest rumor about a multiplayer, party, online game in the Sonic franchise has me feeling a bit skeptical. The last attempt at a game like this, Shuffle, was not well-received by fans, so I can't help but have doubts about this new one. Despite my reservations, I do believe that there may be some redeeming qualities to this game. One aspect that I think will be well-received is the music. The Sonic franchise is known for its catchy tunes, so I have no doubt that the soundtrack for this game will be top-notch. Additionally, there will always be some fans who will enjoy any new addition to the Sonic universe, no matter what. Overall, while I am worried about the potential success of this new multiplayer game, I am also hopeful that there will be some enjoyable aspects to it. Only time will tell if this game will be a hit or a miss. -

I wanna preface with the fact that I showed Sonic Dream Team to a friend and their immediate response was "Fall Guys" and I hate that they willed that into existence.
I was disregarding the leak for a while because its super common to see "NEW SONIC LEAK CONFIRMED!!!" on Youtube thumbnails and stuff, and I just never payed mind to them, but this one's real.
Ever since first finding out today I've kind of been on this stunned shock where it doesn't feel real. Like as soon as I show it to my friends, one of them is gonna do a quick Google search and tell me its fake, but all evidence leads to this being legit and I have no idea how to feel.
For me personally, I don't care much for it right now. I'm all for Sonic going in wild different directions, but that doesn't really apply to a little phone game for me, so I may completely skip out on it. Like, it honestly, doesn't look half bad, a giant Sonic racing game sounds awesome but... again, its a mobile game, not sure how much expectancy you have with that. I really feel like it'd be harmless at best, save for the countless nights of sleep I'm gonna lose until this game comes out.
Or not.
WHO KNOWS???
I'm all for the character customization, though. Sonic in a funny hat is always a good Sonic. -

Doesn't look bad to me. I liked fall guys, this looks pretty similar just with Sonic. Of course, being Sonic, it will get more hate online than it should when fall guys didn't.
That said, I hope it's not just for mobile. -

I think with Sonic Shuffle, it was just poorly timed and not executed well enough to be unique, the ppl who developed the original Mario Party games worked on Sonic Shuffle but it didn't feel "Sonic enough" but with Sonic Toys Party, even though it's very Fall Guys inspired there's Sonic elements within the game and there's even returning stages like Ocean Palace from Sonic Heroes; and like you said the music will obviously be really good, even if they're reusing songs from previous games

yeah, I'm usually not one to talk about rumours, whenever ppl show "Japanese beta footage" for leaks a lot of the time the Japanese is simply machine translated with made-up sentences half the time, but it does make sense for this to be internal beta footage and look like this, so I thought it was worth sharing w/ everyone on the forums to see their opinions as well
it's really difficult for me to get into mobile games as well, the last mobile game I genuinely played was Sonic Runners, and even then I played that pretty casually; but ppl who are mobile phone gamers really put their time into games like these, and I know mobile phone games are very popular in Asia, so I know I'm not the target demographic. Toys Party seems like smth that would be more fun w/ a group of friends or ppl you know rather than playing totally alone, but that might be my own feelings coming through... the customization they've shown and the characters planned so far have me excited, silly emotes (like the Amy one shown in the footage), and little accessories go a long way in games like these and who doesn't wanna put Sonic in a little hat?

it's unfortunate that ppl are going to be pessimistic simply bcuz it's Sonic, even Sonic fans are going to be vocal abt their distaste for "another mobile Sonic spin-off" similar to how almost hours after Sonic x Shadow Generations' trailer dropped, ppl were complaining and nit-picking abt the models in the game and other small things
can't we just all be excited for once?
I hope it gets a console release down the line also, even if it's on PC or steam, my poor old phone can't handle smth like this -

Oh, That settles it. It appears that SEGA has been exploring new avenues of media distribution lately. In the past, the only non-traditional media offering we had was Dash, FORCES DASH. However, we have since seen the introduction of Dream Team, Sonic Roll, and the unconventional Sonic Toys Party. -

It's a rumor yes but an interesting one at that. Hopefully, they are going to be making official announcement to support everything. Also, I would really hope it's going to come on console and not just on mobile because if that happens, it's going to leave a bad taste. -

a second trailer has been leaked for Sonic Toys Party, posted by Sonic Fansite, Shadow of a Hedgehog (SOAH)
this trailer shows off more of the menus, and a large amount of characters to select from
I'll keep the full list secret so ppl can watch the video and be surprised!
