Well i have purposely isolated myself from here so i would not get any spoilers or any of that but my initial thoughts after finally seeing the Sonic movie:
It was actually pretty good, yeah the plot is formulaic and something we have seen a billion times before but it is saved by the characters and the characterizations.
I really liked Sonic here, he was different then the Sonic in the games but in a good way.
Ben Schwartz really gave Sonic his own flair i can appreciate and I liked him more then any of the main actors that have played Sonic so far outside of Jaleel.
Jaleel White will always be my Sonic but Ben comes very close.
I mean i like Roger Craig smith, Jason Griffith, Ryan Drummund and even Martin Burke but Ben really nailed it giving Sonic some emotional range that you dont see much of in modern Sonic media.
Jim Carry was fantastic, loved him playing Robotnick with a lot of fun but also a lot of malice.... There were times where I thought he was actually a legit threat thanks to his keen intellect and penchant for destruction.
Sure he lost in the end but Carry really gave him some intimidating moments not seen in a while, I approve.
And I had a theory of him evolving his outfit in the film and yeah nailed it.
I really dug his first outfit once I saw it in action, sure it screams "IM THE VILLAIN IM THE VILLAIN MWAHAHAHA!!!!!" but Carry made it work.
The flight suit was awesome too but I really liked his first outfit very Peter Capaldi 12th doctor in tone:
I also liked James Marsden and loved his interactions with Jim Carry.
So overall enjoyable film, not the best thing in the world but is harmless and enjoyable in its own right.
