  I don't know why, but I just sort of had the assumption that Amy was going to make her first appearance in the third movie, but I guess that's not the case? Anyone else surprised?

  I LOVE Amy but... Honestly, not really. I see predictions for characters in the Sonic movies and I really can't see something like Rouge or Cream or Amy or whatever making any kind of appearence.
  
  Story aside, you gotta think of it in a marketing sense. It only makes sense for Shadow to be the next big character. They've already introduced the big 3 which... is actually the big 4 as of recently since that does include Amy but... I guess you don't want to bloat out the character roster too much.
  
  Point being, Shadow made the most sense in a publicity sort of way. Though I'm not betting against Amy being totally absent from the movies in the future. However I don't feel as if the movies would want to keep piling on more and more characters, since they want to nab a wider demographic than just the diehard Sonic fans and all that jazz.
  
  But bear with me. Sonic movie 4 teaser and Blaze shows up. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO- never happening.

  Yeah, everyone thought it was going to based around CD when it's actually around Adventure 2, and all the fan speculation and redesigns were quite popular.

  I don't think it's been confirmed, but the more information that comes out, I'm just surprised we haven't seen her mentioned at all, at least from what I've seen. Could still happen though.

  Okay, so I don't know if Amy will be in the movie or not, but recently, there was a storyboard from the movie that got leaked online. (We know the board is real because Paramount went out of their way to remove it from Twitter.) The board doesn't confirm or deny anything, but it does give me some thoughts about whether Amy's going to be in the film. Minor spoilers below.

  So, the scene shows Robotnik experiencing flashbacks (apparently) of events that took place earlier in the film. Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Agent Stone, and Shadow all being seen at different moments.
  
  But there's no Amy in the flashbacks. Or Rouge. Or any other new game character, for that matter.
  

  
  Honestly, I think the fact that we haven't heard anything about Amy or Rouge being in the film (outside of maybe a post-credits scene) is confirmation enough. With the second film, they announced Knuckles was going to be in it way before the first trailer was out, in order to build hype.
  
  Only other thing I can think of is that maybe the Knuckles series will have an Amy (or Rouge) tease at the end, and Paramount isn't revealing Amy because they want people to watch the Knuckles series.

  I still have hope we will hear more about amy and/or rouge after the knuckles show comes out. We haven't heard of any other confirmed characters except maria and I do not think she is the only new character.
