We just got the announcement trailer for the new Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds and
boy is the hype real.
Loads to be excited about in this trailer, like the playable characters which include Cream (finally getting her driver's license after missing out in Team Sonic Racing, though I severely still wish it was Vanilla driving with Cream in a little sidecar), Jet and Sage in a little Titan car!
Also what looks to be Dinosaur Jungle from Secret Rings and Metal Harbor from Adventure 2. Though I'm personally more excited about this "Chao Park".
Though the big highlight here is serious, it looks like they're bringing back the vehicle transform mechanics from Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, and something I noted as well is that some tracks seen in this trailer and Steam screenshots looks scarily similar to the ones from Transformed as well. Which is great actually, since I consider ASRT to be one, if not
the greatest racing game of all time, so to see they're bringing back elements from that gives me hope that this will be some quality stuff.
The trailer also showcases brand new monster truck and Extreme Gear vehicle transformations as well, which look to be items you can pick up, assumedly like the All-Star moves in the ASR games? And frankly, I've no idea what those big warp rings entail from a gameplay standpoint right now.
I've never played Team Sonic Racing both because it's little on the expensive side and I bet my computer can't run it, though I've heard that game was pretty underwhelming. And while I most certainly won't be able to play this one as well, I'm hoping that the re-use of ASRT elements means that this game will be at least as good as that.
I
LOVE racing games and have been wanting a proper modern Sonic racing game for years now. I'm usually about being cautiously optimistic, but I want to believe in this one. I
need this to be a good game!
I REPEAT.
SAGE IN A LITTLE TITAN CAR!
To mess this up would be an upset.
