  I've been dreaming up a brilliant idea for a fan game for a very, very long time. Ever since the idea hit me, I've been looking for someone else who likes the idea enough that they'd be willing to assist me in my project. So far, however, I've had no luck in doing so. If you're willing to hear my idea, please do. And if you like it, will you assist me?

  Unfortunately I don't think there are any programmers here, but there are engine tools out there where you can get a premade engine and tweak it to your desires. I used to tinker with one called Game Maker. Maybe that would help?

  That's neat. The game I have an idea for is a car racing game. Are there any auto racing game engines of the like?

  I wish I could help you, but I will say if you get this project off the ground, I would love to give it a spin!! I absolutely love fan projects and mods and the like! Jolly good fun! And, dare I say, sometimes even more fun than the mainline games! (Please don't hurt me die-hards! Just a humble opinion! hehe)

   That's wonderful to hear! If you want to help me that'd rock! My idea is a car racing game starring the Sonic cast. It would have a deep story driven very well by the characters and everything. I've actually written the game's story in the form of a fan fiction already, and I would love to see it as a fan game.

  Well sorry if you misunderstood my initial reply. I do WISH I could help you, but I hardly know the first thing about game programming, apart from a small stint using I believe the program was "Game Maker" in 2007 to make some supremely basic 2-D rail shooters in the style of 1942 or games like that. Perhaps you can try to contact some of the blokes involved in the Sonic Hacking and Fangame contests that take place every year and see if anyone would be up to the task? I know there are a few big names who can pull off wonderful things, such as MarkyJester. Might not heart to reach out to that lot and see what could be shaken out of it!
