I will admit that there is a part of me that worries that Sega and Paramount is trying to do what every other corporation is trying to do and milk the franchise to death. I.e. poorly thought up tv shows put out for the sake of "content." (looking at you, Knuckles), but as someone who really only cares about the games, everything else is kind of secondary to me.
I enjoyed Frontiers, and CrossWorlds looks like fun, but if someone doesn't really care for those styles of games, then I could understand why someone might not feel very confident about the state of the franchise.
At the end of the day though, Sonic is a product and Sega is a corporation, and it's not healthy to obsess over these things, and if they aren't meeting your expectations, you should re-examine how you want to spend your time and money. I think the older we get, the more and more this becomes clearer. At any rate, hope we hear from you again, and if not, Godspeed!

I won't go into detail because I don't find it relevant, but at the time I was super stressing about every little thing that peeved me that had to do with this franchise and that got me into a really unhealthy feedback loop that burned me out fast.
It's not like I outright turned back on the views I had then, more just how to be normal about it and not let it get to me as hard. The main thing this Sonic hiatus has taught me is to more appreciate the things I do like, that nothing stays the way I want it to forever, and that there's no such thing as a "right" opinion. It's a huge franchise with a huge legacy and so, so many ways it can be experienced and molded, it's ridiculous to demand both conformity as well as freedom in just the right ways.
It's a slippery slope being so passionate about a franchise when you run your own perception to the ground. But I came out of this pitfall with a somehow even bigger appreciation for the Azure Eulipotyphlan than I did before and I'm terribly sorry for momentarily dampening the mood in this place with my laser-focusing on what harms me.
I hope to get back into the swing of things, I friggin' missed going on and on about every little tidbit about this franchise that interests me. No matter what, I can just never rid myself of the Great Blue One, and that's fine by me. I again apologize for me acting out of impulse in a state I never should have gotten myself in.
Long Live the Hedgehog.
