Well they've kinda faded out now with the internet. We can get all of our news right as it happens rather than waiting for next month's issue, but I have and still do enjoy reading these. As a kid I absolutely loved the official magazines that had demo disks in them so I could try new games. There's just something about reading up on a new game in a magazine that just cannot be replaced imo.
Now days there aren't many left. OPM had its last issue just last month and new they are Play Magazine. There's Edge and Game Informer. That's all I can think of. My favorite always was EGM. Why? Idk, it had games from all systems so I could see everything that was releasing not just on the one system I had and always seemed to have good information. -

Game Informer was nice once, but I had a subscription to them many moons ago, and after a while they lost their excitement. I think with less interest came less exciting content. Probably less budget if we are being honest. But yes, the golden age of gaming magazines was an amazing time to be alive, and the classics are ALWAYS a treat to return to. Like some Electronic Gaming Monthly or GamePro! Good stuff! hehe -

Ah I remember GamePro! For probably over a decade I had an EGM magazine that had all of the info about the PlayStation 2 at Japanese launch and their tests with it. Always went back and read it for nostalgia.

I've seen that issue before, but never owned it and probably didn't get to crack into it! I have (or had, it may have been lost over time) one that went over all the specs of the then upcoming Sega Dreamcast. It was a treat to read even years after it's release! -

Oh that's exciting! I remember reading about Dreamcast back when it was only out in Japan, it just seemed light years ahead of the previous consoles and I was excited about it. -

In late 2006, I had subscribed to Nintendo Power. I loved it! Of course, it wasn't like the issues of old: didn't have many tips and tricks like it used to, but i loved reading the Pulse (letters that people wrote to NP) section, the main article (especially if it was for a game that I was anticipating!) And I was hungry for the next issue. I was a subscriber so when Nintendo Power changed its publisher to Future US in...I think it was 2010? I gotten issues where it was JUST the cover art, NO blurbs whatsoever, just the titles of the games covered in a tiny square at the bottom.
And they....were beautiful.
Then....it had to come to an end in 2012. They closed their doors but went out with a bang: they made their final issue in the vein of the first-ever issue but with a modern twist. I remember that issue having a Howard and Nester comic where it just featured a grown-up version of Nester with his son Max (and he looked just like his daddy!)
I will never forget the fun I had reading those. Best 6 years of my life. RIP. -

I'm quite young compared to the rest of y'all so I don't have many memories with popular gaming magazines (I wish I grew up with Nintendo Power. That looked cool). But I have actually been subscribing to a fan Nintendo magazine called Nintendo Force. It's pretty sweet with some funny comics and a wallpaper. May have a bit of a bias since I won something from that magazine once

I wish I would have had some experience with Nintendo Power. I strongly suspect I would have loved that fondly if given the opportunity, but growing up we weren't too well off financially so my mom would have been unable to afford me those! Most of my magazines I had came 2nd hand from my uncle who had a few good subscriptions. But that story of Nintendo Power sounds amazing!
And I've never heard of Nintendo Force. I will have to take a peek at that and see what there is to see! hehe -

Yeah...unfortunately I had to toss them out when I moved in late 2012 but I have memories of those mags.
Oh, and those posters! They had nice posters from time to time. I had quite a few on the walls of my room from '06 to '12...Now I can't have any kind of posters now....
