  Here's a short story I wrote inspired by the new costume in Sonic Forces: Speed Battle!
  
  
  

  The Prominent Linebacker

  A Team Dark Story

  
  After a long, busy day, Shadow, Rouge, and Omega chill out.
  
  
  Rouge: Is chilling on the couch watching the television
  
  
  Shadow: is shadow boxing training against a punching bag
  
  
  TV: “You know, when people ask me over the last two weeks, Who do you like in this game?’ and I say ‘Well, you know, if you look at Moon Mech’s defense, you think “Man, they could just smother any offense” but then there’s Zavok and he can flat-out take over a game!’” The other sports commentator speaks “Yes he can and he has shown. I mean, he has the ability to throw the football from anywhere on the field in the last two playoff games. He has become a receiving- er excuse me- a running threat as well. So it will be important to hold him within the pocket.”
  
  
  Omega: Sees Rouge watching something and walks to the couch and looks at her `What are you watching?`
  
  
  Rouge: Oh, just some football. It’s the Lava Dragons vs. the Moon Mechs. 
  
  
  Omega: What is “football?”
  
  
  Rouge: Basically, you just take the ball to the end of the opponent's side of the field.
  
  
  Omega: I don’t see the appeal of this gam- Looks at Zavok carrying the football and charging through the field pushing everyone in his path and scoring. Immediately sits on the couch.
  
  
  Rouge: Her side of the couch lifts a little due to Omega’s weight
  
  
  Omega: I now see the appeal of this sport. I have a mighty desire to pursue this activity.
  
  
  Rouge: Well, knock yourself out.
  
  
  One football training montage later…
  
  
  Omega: Is already at the football field getting ready
  
  
  Shadow: No.
  
  
  Rouge: Oh come on, Shadow. It’s just a football game!
  
  Shadow: Exactly. It’s just a football game. We have better things to do than watch a sports game. 
  
  
  Rouge: This is Omega’s first football game!
  
  
  Shadow: Do you remember the last time Omega tried to enjoy something other than destroying Eggman’s robots?
  
  Flashback. It’s Shadow’s birthday.
  
  
  Rouge: Okay, Shadow! You go first!
  
  
  Shadow: Grabs the bat and swings the bat at the piñata. It’s super effective!
  
  
  Rouge: Good job! Okay, Omega. You’re next. Just don’t sho-
  
  
  Omega: Target detected! Eliminating floating donkey! Starts shooting the piñata
  
  
  Rouge: …
  
  
  Present-day
  
  
  Rouge: It was still a fun party!
  
  
  Shadow: And a pain to clean up. 
  
  
  Rouge: Oh don’t pretend you didn’t have fun that day.
  
  
  Shadow: … He did have fun. He thinks briefly and walks out of the room. 
  
  
  Rouge: H-hey! Where are you going?
  
  
  Shadow: Omega is already at the stadium isn’t he? Let’s go.
  
  
  Rouge: Smiles I’ll see you there. Opens the window, exits, closes the window, and flies off.
  
  
  Shadow: Once Rouge leaves, he smiles and heads outside where his motorcycle is. He rides to the football stadium. 
  
  
  The football stadium is filled with crowds of people ecstatic to watch the game.
  
  
  Travis Seitz: It’s the Lava Dragons vs Station Square! I’m Travis Seitz and commentating with me is Jon Kramer. Who do you think will be coming on top in this match, Jon?
  
  
  Jon Kramer: Well, it’s been a good season for Station Square but I’m not sure how they will be able to beat the Lava Dragons especially with their main guy Zavok helping them out. That guy is a beast!
  
  
  Travis: You’re right on that but it seems like Station Square just got a new member on the team named Omega. Let’s see if that’ll help their odds!
  
  
  Rouge: Is sitting watching the game WOO!
  
  
  Shadow: Watches. Wasn’t too interested until he heard Zavok mentioned. Zavok is in this?
  
  
  Rouge: Oh yeah! He’s been big into the sport as well!
  
  
  Shadow: Grins a little and says to himself This just got a bit more interesting.
  
  
  Travis: And here are the teams!
  
  
  Omega: Walks into the field. His armor is painted emerald green with the numbers 23 in the front and “Omega 23” on his back.
  
  
  Jon: Wait, Omega’s a robot? 
  
  
  Travis: Well rules don’t say robots aren’t allowed. 
  
  
  Jon: Fair point!
  
  
  Zavok: Walks into the field wearing dark pink and black armor with the number 13 in the front.
  
  
  Travis: And here comes the MVP of the Lava Dragons!
  
  
  Jon: Both teams are now getting into position….and the game begins!
  
  
  Zavok: Grabs the football and starts charging
  
  
  Omega: Target acquired! Commencing defensive manuevers. Readies himself to stop Zavok.
  
  
  Zavok: Charges at Omega
  
  Omega: Stops Zavok.
  
  
  
  

  Who will win this game?
