  They were Sega's go-to team for handheld Sonics with the Advance/Rush series. Then they made Sonic 4 and I haven't heard anything since. Other companies have developed handheld games since then. I know Backbone no longer exists, did DIMPS go belly up?

  Yeah, they're still around. Since then they've worked on mostly stuff for Dragon Ball and Saint Seiya, as well as (one of my favorite handheld games) Freedom Wars. Most recently was SAO: Fatal Bullet.

  Wow, I didn't know they worked on Freedom Wars! I wonder if they'll ever go back to Sonic? Seems like they've moved on.

  I suppose that's Sega's call. I did rather enjoy the Advance and Rush series', for what it's worth.

  Unless I'm mistaken, the last Sonic game they worked on was the 3DS version of Generations. Since most of their handheld games are on Android and iOS, I think they'll stick to Hardlight for a while.

  I'm still hoping for that one day where we see an announcement for Sonic Rush 3, or at least a game with similar gameplay. Those two games are still my favorite creations from them.
