Did you like emerald hunting?

Something I was just thinking about. I honestly liked emerald hunting in SA2 and even SA but I know it was more decisive amongst fans. Did you like the gameplay? If not, what would you consider a good style of gameplay for Knuckles in a 3D game? Would you want his gameplay to be more like Sonic with big gaps he has to glide over? Would a Sonic-style gameplay be fun with obstacles slowing down the gameplay? Or maybe like in Sonic 3 & Knuckles those obstacles are mostly just used as keeping other players out of Knuckles specific areas? -

I enjoyed them. In Sonic Adventure 2 it was eh. For Knuckles, I didn't like a lot of the music for it (I'm not a rap person) and for the Rouge Stages, I honestly enjoyed most of them except for that one timed level. -

That's funny, I liked Knuckles music and I did like the gameplay overall. So if they were to keep the gameplay, how would you improve upon it? I think maybe bigger stages with less limitations on where to go would be good but not too big or else you risk it being pretty boring and frustrating. -

Hmm, I think I would rely more on puzzles to find the emerald shards like that one underwater level. I think those require more thinking than going to the highest point and then fly around until you get the detector blinking. -

I like that idea, a lot. Puzzles are fun and keep you on your toes and with the hints it can help out those who get frustrated easily. -

Funny you should mention puzzles in Emerald hunting stages.
Just today, I was replaying the hard mode of Egg Quarters. What makes that stage interesting is that all the keys are trapped in iron bar containers, which can't be destroyed by any of the player's attacks. What you have to do is pick up the bombs thrown by the Kiki Badniks, and use them to open the containers.
It's difficult, but it's also a pretty unique concept. I kind of wish there were more creative challenges like that in SA2. -

I was never a big fan of it but I didn't hate it. I really liked Pumpkin Hill in Adventure 2 though. -

I liked it, but I would have prefferred he either;
A. Had his traditional hat to fit the game type.
or
B. Had a more Boss Rush kind of gameplay.
