  I want outdo myself in over-specific topics.
  
  Anyways, a pass-time I often like to do is go to the best website ever and go to the gallery section in games to see the character art and renders. To see the small or even big differences in the designs and style of posing used. It's interesting seeing just what was "Sonic" at the time.
  
  Now, I could babble on about how some newer Sonic renders, specially for merchandise, fail to really capture the character's personalities or just be all that interesting, but I'd be preaching to the choir on that one, so for now I wanna talk about two specific artworks.
  
  
  
  First being this... weird Tails one from Sonic Heroes. It stands out to me so much.
  
  I had never seen it before looking through the wiki, and with me being so familiar with the Heroes renders due to them being used so much in Flash games at the time, this one stuck out like a sore thumb. And the goofy pose like Tails is just trying really hard to look cool really makes this just a special render for me.
  
  
  
  
  And the other artwork I'd like to mention is this Sonic one from Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut, as it is by far my most favorite Sonic pose of them all.
  
  Sonic has many iconic poses, but I don't see this one as much which is unfortunate since I see it as the perfect blend of Sonic's care-free yet ferocious attitude, laid back but very athletic, the two opposing aspects of his character that make Sonic Sonic. How I love this pose!
  
  
  
  
  To my absolute joy, this pose is actually used for Sonic's statue in the Sonic Generations secret Statue Room. I'd say all poses used for the statues in the Statue Room are perfect, actually. I used to work a bit with 3D models as a hobbie, you see, so I'm a bit nutso for proper character posing.
  
  But we're getting off-topic here. This is Artwork & Renders we talking here! So whatever talk, little trivia or just your favorites of the character artwork throughout the Sonic games. I can't be the only one who spends hours just looking at PNGs.

  ohhhh that Sonic Heroes Tails render brings back so many memories! (queue the music) the Sonic Heroes renders, or as I fondly remember and refer to them as; the McDonald's renders, since they were also used for LDC handheld Happy Meal Toys, haha! and of course I remember the Sonic Heroes website being one of my favourites sites to be on back in the day, instead of playing the flash games they had on the site I spent all my time listening to 'This Machine' over and over bcuz I thought the song was just the coolest thing ever (and it still is)
  
  I remember thinking the Sonic Heroes renders were really the best thing at the time, like with Espio and Vector and how you could see the texture on their skin, I thought that was the most detail you would ever see in a video game character, ever! I also really loved the render of Sonic in this game, his teeth being smaller drawn on lines is my favourite. I also like the shading on this render, it always felt like a natural sequel to the Adventure Renders, specifically the one on the SADX box art
  
  
  
  but you're definitely not the only one who spends hours looking at PNGs! any time I need references for any of the characters I find myself doing the same; I'll pull up a character's gallery on SWZ, open a few tabs, but then I end up spending more time than I should just looking at all the artwork, renders, and sprites a character all has in their gallery- bcuz depending on the character, they can have a lot to look at
  
  speaking of statues, I wanted to point out this Jet one for 2 reasons; the first is obviously bcuz they used the 2D artwork as a reference for the statue which I also love, and secondly I remember when I first saw this Sonic Channel art for Jet waaaaay back (when my only access to the internet was at a relative's house) and being so excited to see the Babylon Rogues in the "Official" 2D artstyle like the rest of the cast
  
  
  
  I'm also glad we're getting more artwork of characters these days outside of just Sonic Channel art w/ things like #sonicpict (outgoing twt link), and the calendar images, it felt like for the longest time there was barely any official art of most characters and you'd be lucky if your fave had Sonic Channel art
  
  I'll be ending my reply w/ this Jet trophy from Smash WiiU, I'm actually really in love w/ the pose on this one! I think it's somewhat a reference to his pose on the JP boxart for Sonic Riders but it's not 1-to-1... but now I've distracted myself once again looking at art of Sonic characters on SWZ, oops!

  ahahah, all of these are good ones (especially jam and r) but I think that the srb2 ones are good, even if it's not nessecarily canon, per se, but it's rather just good. when 2.1 came out with mcclouds models,
