We can all agree that some of the best and most varied video game music can be found in the Sonic series, from genres such as J-Pop and Eurobeats (yes, it is a thing) to 2000s-esque rock and even some edgy form of rock (like in Shadow the Hedgehog, it's not heavy metal, but I don't really know what genre it is). Despite this large variation in musical choice, there are clear songs that stand out in both good and bad ways, or connect with the individual. On the other hand, such large variations lead fans to prefer certain types of music based on game or time era.
So, what do you think the best and worst Sonic songs/genres are and why? What specific songs/genres would you say YOU like?

This may be an unpopular opinion but I think Sonic R is the worst music in the series. -

I will admit His World is a great song, but I'm gonna have to disagree with you on the Sonic R music just because I like it so much.
Personally, I'm into the more international J-Pop-esque crap found in games like Sonic CD (JP/EU soundtrack, mind you, since their were two) and Sonic R (which is actually Eurobeats, but both genres are very similar). This may seem surprising based on my Shadow EDGINESS, but I honestly don't like the early 2000s rock found in games like Sonic Adventure or Sonic Adventure 2 as much, primarily because I grew up during that time period, so it feels kinda generic, while the music genres I already talked about liking were popular mainly during the early to mid 90s, being a time I don't altogether know having not grown up during that time.
I guess you could say I'm into the 90s pop music genres, while you're more into the rock/video game mashup music done by Crush 40, the group SEGA hired for all of their lyrical music, if you didn't know already.

I will always advocate for Sonic 3D Blast music. I have come to like the Saturn version too but I'll always love the Genesis soundtrack most! -

Sonic 06 has one of my favorite Sonic songs being Dreams of Absolution. While I do like Spinball, it probably has one of the worst songs in the franchise. Case in point:

Most Sonic games have pretty good music, I have many favorites that I cannot say which is my absolute favorite!
I have heard some bad ones too, my least favorite is the crap that Rise of Lyric spews out, it makes you want to fall sleep listening to it. -

I feel like the “worst” Sonic games (games that get a bad rep) tend to have the best music. It’s weird.
But for me specifically, I really really like Lost World from Sonic Adventure. The whole game just has a lovely soundtrack.
My least favorite is.. maybe uhm. I’m not sure actually. I tend to like a lot of Sonic music, even some from Sonic Forces. I like Infinite’s theme because I’m edgy.

Sonic Chronicles has the worst music imo. It has remixes of older music but it's terrible remixing. Other than that I can't think of any I don't like. Maybe Sonic 4 actually.
