Anyone dislike the characterization of Sonic in TSR?

The story is shallow and light once again(although it's a racing game so it gets some leeway) and I think the characterization of Sonic in recent games is too care-free and light hearted.
"Hey Sonic! I feel something strange in this race!"
"OK! Let's get fun in race!"
"Hey Sonic! Eggman is fishy!"
"OK! Let's enjoy the race!"
"Hey Sonic!"
"Ooh~ Yeah~ Everybody super sonic racing~~ It doesn't matter!"
From Colors, Sonic gradually became a noisy comedian. In Lost World and TSR, this annoying character personality got peak. I'm just not a fan.
