MauEvigBlaze the cat Fire cat princess guardian

Blaze was introduced in Sonic Rush back in 2005 as a princess from another dimension, who's purpose was to safeguard the Sol Emeralds. As her name implies, her powers and abilities involve pyrokinetics or fire manipulation. She shares a lot of parallels with other characters, being the "Sol" guardian of the Sol Emeralds (see what I did there?) she does share a sense of duty with everyone's favorite red echidna.
Her sense of duty has often left her aloof and has found herself hesitant to ask for help from anyone. Her demeanor is very proper, as befitting a princess or anyone of royalty. But don't let that fool you, she can seriously kick some butt when she needs to.
At the end of Rush she did become friends with Sonic and the gang, and realize there's value in friendship. It's a cute sentiment, but I think she still struggles with social anxiety, something I can relate to.
Blaze has become a personal favorite of mine, a tough female character and the very first female to ever have a "super" form or something close to it. With the Sol Emeralds, she can transform into Burning Blaze and turns pink with flames all around her. (And she's a kitty! Win win. ^^)

In Sonic '06 she takes on a completely different role as Silver's companion, but I haven't played much of '06 to really gauge her character in the game. Can't say I was impressed with her being downgraded to Silver's sidekick rather than an equal companion and counterpart to Sonic.

She returns again in Rush Adventure with her previous role, which I consider a proper continuation of her character.

The Rush version of Blaze is what I've considered canon, though there's much debate about what is considered canon for the firecat.

What do you think? What is Blaze's canon story? Does the '06 story make things confusing? Do you consider that an AU? Did you like her better in the Rush series or in '06?

Should Blaze make more appearances in Sonic games, preferably as a playable character?

Do you like Blaze?

What are your thoughts on the fire cat princess?

Also I would add pictures but I found I have some trouble in that department. ^^;  Exclamation Sleepy

Blaze is my favorite modern(can you still call her modern? lol) character and the best they created in a long time! As far as cats go, she makes Big look like a parody character. haha But I never finished Rush where she debuted, is there a lot of story and character development in that game?

Oh definitely. At the start, she is a loner and is determined to take care of messes all by herself, and by the end of the game, she learns that there is nothing wrong with having friends or having someone help out. Absolutely loved her story in the game.

Blaze is definitely what I would still consider, my favorite female Sonic character in the franchise. Really wish she got to make more playable appearances, like say if they'd finally made a Sonic Rush 3 featuring her or something.

Oh a modern Sonic Rush would be pretty cool. I'd be down for a Rush 3. I need to go farther into this game, just got to the first boss and got distracted.

In the first Sonic Rush, Blaze was trying to gather the Sol Emeralds back, because if they weren't returned to her dimension, both her's and Sonic's worlds would collapse. She didn't trust anyone at first, although Cream's kindness seems capable of winning anyone over. The thought of getting help from anyone really upsets her, but I think it's part due to being bogged down with the responsibility of guarding the emeralds in the first place.
The reason I felt like her story was more interesting in Rush is because she had a commitment and responsibility to her Kingdom and the Sol Emeralds as well as the entire dimension she was from, whereas when she was in '06 she just felt like Silver's sidekick.
I do feel like her personality has some similarities to Knuckles, who is also quite a bit reserved and understands the important responsibility of guarding such powerful gems.
I do feel like a bond was formed at the end of Rush when she finally began to understand that Sonic was a kind person who wanted to help...and that might be something that she simply wasn't used to. She was used to having to do everything on her own, and beat herself up when she failed. To be fair though, it can be a tremendous responsibility when you figure an entire universe could fall apart if you mess up, so I can understand why she had the insecurities she had.
So yes, I would say she had a lot of story and development in the game. She really grew as a character and I think you could see in Rush Adventure where she was finally at a point where she could trust Sonic and Tails and became more open to friendships.
