Greetings Mobians. I'm MauEvig, AKA Mau. I was a former member of the Mobius Forum years ago. Back then I was much younger (and admittedly more immature) and initially left the fandom for a while.
I admit the Sonic movie is one of the things that got me back into the fandom as of recent. I never, in my wildest dreams thought they'd make a movie based on my favorite video game hero. Now they're making a sequel, a new cartoon and game and I couldn't be more excited!
Sonic has always been near and dear to me for years and even as I experienced periods of not being into it as much as I used to, the love for Sonic was still there deep down. (I still collected the toys, because I'm a dork that way). It helped me through some rough times in my childhood and even helped me find my soul mate.
I decided it was time to come back finally after all these years. I discovered the old Mobius Forum has died, but this new forum looks nice and well, as they say, the Phoenix Rises.
I hope to enjoy my time here, perhaps reconnect with old friends if they're still around and perhaps make some new ones. I look forward to connecting with fellow Sonic fans.

The Sonic movie was great! I never left the fandom but I have had periods of being in and out of it in terms of paying attention to it.

This forum merged with Sonic HQ in 2018 so it's not related to the old Mobius forums. At that point Sonic HQ had a forum that was integrated with the site and I always wanted to have a site associated with the forum.

If you have any suggestions, I'm all ears for how to improve. I've tried to frame this place as a pleasant place to be that is about discussion more than all the other nonsense that modern forums integrate into it or the toxicity of social media.

Oh it was great! I could watch it over and over again, and I even make a big plate of chili dogs for the occasion. We plan to make a big event when Sonic 2 comes out.
That's interesting, and I appreciate you giving me a bit of history behind Sonic HQ and the merge with your forum. That's perfectly fine though, a fresh start in the fandom is nice.
So far so good, I'll let you know if I think of anything. It seems pretty pleasant so far though!
Know what you mean with social media, agreed that it's toxic and I only really use it for certain things.

@"MauEvig" the second movie releases on the exact day of this forum's 16th anniversary! Yeah we used to use a free host software called Zetaboards but they got bought out by Tapatalk. Tapatalk is trash imo. It's riddled with ads and is a data mining privacy nightmare. MyBB software uses basic cookies to remember your login and IPs are logged but we have no 3rd party cookies, no google analytics, no Facebook pixels, and won't ever do anything with an IP. It's mainly to help with banning troublemakers. Before we left and became hosted on SHQ's servers, we had over 1.2 million posts. Although it was dead at that point but this forum was the internet's most active Sonic forum for a few years.

Do I want those days back? Nah... It's too crazy to manage. I would like this place to pick up in activity though but I don't ever want to have a mega forum again.

That's an amazing coincidence! All the more reason to celebrate then.

It certainly sounds like trash, but being able to keep track of IP is important for dealing with troublemakers for sure. And of course ads can be annoying, and I'd hate to have privacy concerns over talking about Sonic or any other thing I'm a fan of.

Yeah I bet it was crazy back then. You don't want things so crazy that it's chaos, but you also don't want it dead either. A nice inbetween is nice, though sometimes that's hard to accomplish. One cannot predict how things will go.

Welcome back Mau. Glad to have you back with the other few mofoers who are still around.

I miss the Mobius Forums 50-100 posts per day. That's a friendly medium for a nice internet fam IMO.
