NeoMetallixWhat are the games you keep going back to?

I'm not talking about your favorite Sonic games, although they could very well and likely will be in this list. What are the Sonic games you go back to and replay time after time?

For me it's mostly Sonic 3 & Knuckles, Sonic 3D Blast, Sonic Adventure 2, and Sonic Generations.

They are like comfort games, I can pick it up and play a few levels and always have fun doing so.

Sonic Mania has been the general standard lately, but also the Adventure series. As you age, they are just easier to whip through (albeit more frustrating as well, given how aware of the awful camera you become with an aged understanding of game mechanics). Occasionally I go back to Sonic 1 and 2, since they are often available on various Sega collections and as individual ports. I've purchased a few of them, such as the mobile ports. I would honestly love to go back and play Sonic 3 & Knuckles but most ideal means of doing so are tough in the modern day unless you want to keep a Sega Genesis hooked up and ready to go! I could do that, but I'd need to update the cords for the modern televisions.

Ya the only way to play officially is if you have the mega collection. They also released both on Xbox Live which if you own both you can lock them on so to speak. I'm not sure if those are both for sale anymore though or if they were taken down?

Otherwise you need original hardware or to emulate it which can be done on just about anything these days.

They were taken down on XBox a while back. My brother owns both of them on his, and I purchased his old XBox One from him and it has them installed, but because they are affiliated to his account I can't actually play them. I read up on it that all the various copyright disputes that seem to circle around Michael Jackson's involvement are the biggest reason why either game can't seem to see the light of day any longer. It's quite sad though. I wish game companies would find ways around this to allow old games to be enjoyed again in official capacity. It would likely deter unsavory methods and really be a big bonus due to the likelihood of up-scaling to perform well on modern hardware!

Oh that's lame. I always wished they had brought them to PlayStation but they never did for whatever reason, only had Sonic 1 and 2. Yeah the music is definitely the biggest reason for it being unreleased. I know they wouldn't do this but I wonder if they could work around it by giving them away for free? Since they aren't profiting off of the music...

I just wish they would go in and alter whatever parts of the music is causing issue these days. There are enough fan recreations and variations of tracks, they could easily find a fitting set of replacements if it means releasing ports on modern hardware for new generations to easily access and enjoy, and us veterans as well! hehe

I've heard a few of the PC version tracks, and honestly, if they could remake tracks that sound similar but aren't on enough to impede on the Jackson Estate's ownership of them, then I'd take it over absolutely nothing! I don't think all or nothing at all is a good fit for missing out on a fantastic game (or pair of games depending on how you want to view it).

For me, Sonic 1, Sonic Battle, and Sonic Boom Rise of Lyric.

Sonic 1 because I have it on most of my game systems, handhelds and Steam. I could just start it up and start playing, it's always a fun romp for me. Was just playing it the other day on my Switch.

Sonic Battle, just always love going through challenge mode as Amy.

Sonic Boom Rise of Lyric, even though it's not well received, I still enjoy exploring the levels in this game.

Oh Sonic Battle, that was a great game that it's sad they never made another one similar to it! I haven't played it in awhile, I'd love a reimagining or sequel to that.
