Forum Goals 2024
NeoMetallix > 02-01-2024, 02:29 PM
Hello, wonderful mobians! I'm glad you are here reading this and enjoying your time at Sonic Blast!
I have some goals I'd like to set for this forum by the end of 2024.
- We have around 15-20 regulars that are on most of the week and about 40 who log in once a month. I would like to double that. Have 40 users on most days and 80 who log in once a month.
- Double our total post count. 2,000 topics and 20,000 posts.
- An interactive Chao Garden that gives items to increase stats of your chao based on your activity in the forum with ability to buy special items to increase stats even more rapidly. With the ability to compete against bot chao in events. I would have to pay someone to code this but I think it would be possible as long as it isn't too expensive. Lol
- Revamped and rewarding awards system that awards users for being big Sonic fans. Awards for owning Sonic games, merchandise, going to events, and more. Awards for activity such as posting in certain forums an amount per week.
- More items in the shop to purchase with new categories of items and special items that are only available once a year during a specific time frame(think Christmas/Valentines themed items/etc)
- Getting a member involved in the Sonic community such as from Sonic Team, Sega, or comic writers/artists to join for a Q&A.
If you have some good goals to suggest, post them here. - We have around 15-20 regulars that are on most of the week and about 40 who log in once a month. I would like to double that. Have 40 users on most days and 80 who log in once a month.

Hey Neo, I think it'd be cool to see some contests here. Winners could get Steam codes to certain games, or heck you could have a big contest where the winner gets a Steam code for Sonic X Shadow Generations when it comes out later this year. I think maybe a art contest or a scavenger hunt could work. Maybe even a posting contest could work! -

Yeah, good idea. We gave a code for Sonic Mania away when it came out. -

In the first 2 bullets you were specific enough, I would like to suggest to do the same on the remaining 3 bullets.
I'm biased by my major and I usually fallback to the SMART method, to build SMART goals. Although you set the yearly benchmark I would also suggest to split some bullets into smaller junks.
It is possible than some months we could get less or more activity than in others, so smaller time junks could allow us for more flexibility and not being too harsh on not meeting the yearly total goals.
I apologize if this sounds too meddlesome (lack of better word) but I really wish the community strives to the top ! -

No, I appreciate all of the input! I can only pull so much gold out of my butt(), having more minds working together ensures a better product.
The third bullet is a goal but I just haven't come up with any specific ideas. I'll think of how to make them more specific. -

For #4 perhaps do a Biweekly Award for people who reach X mount of posts in specific forums. So you could grant temporary awards for forums you would like to bump a bit of activity in. I would suggest to aim high enough for the sake of the community but as low as possible so the quality of posts doesn't degrade. You could plan months ahead for these Biweekly awards.
For #5 you could do something similar; kind of temporary items, not just limited on quantity. Maybe cheap enough as to make them affordable so they reach as close to out of stock as possible before the deadline. Also, you could make username items to be obtainable only this way (affordable and limited time items), as to build a sense of purpose.
I'm unsure if some of my comments qualify more as suggestions for other threads, feel free to move them if you think so. -

#3 is too vague for me, but perhaps you could research what other forums or communities have set up, Sonic based or others. Then plan ahead the implementation of such features on a per quarter periods, so the last feature to implement in the year could be the most hard to do or the one that requires the most thinking. You could also make polls during the year for deciding about these last features, since you have months to deliver without breaking your goal. -

Well I completely revised #3. It is a pretty big task but it is something I would ultimately want by this year and has been something I've been thinking about for awhile now. -

Lofty goals but I believe in this community and think it will exceed those goals.
