  No need to rebuy, you can download them to a PS3, PSP, PSTV, or Vita. Basically any device that officially supports PS1 games.

  That is good to know! Especially as someone that didn't grew up having a Playstation at all. *sighs* Surely miss out quite a handle of video game series because lacking one. Like this one, Crash, Sypro, etc. And this is one of those series I wanted to try out.
  
  What would probably throw me off is the tank controls that I believe the first game has...? Correct me if I'm wrong.

  Yes the originals 1-3 and code Veronica had tank controls but I don’t have any problem with them. Press forward to move forward regardless of your direction becomes second nature after awhile.

  The tank controls got easier with Resident Evil 3, as they brought in a 180 turn The remake of the first game and RE Zero had tank controls too, as well as the 180 turn. The controls got better with Resident Evil 4, and with the two Resident Evil Revelations games there isn't a run button. I'm glad the RE 2 Remake won't have tank controls, but I wouldn't mind if they returned.

  Because most of the games I've played when I was younger are either platformers, RPGs, simulation (like Sims and Animal Crossing), and action/adventure like games, I never played games with tank controls. Sooooo, that is the one thing I may need time to get used to. So far the only game I recall that has tank like control but has the ability to turn more smoothly is The Last of Us. ^^;
  
  Regardless, now knowing that, it does ease a bit of my worry with controls with this game /o/

  I guess the first games of the series had tank controls because most of the time, the games take place in corridors and hallways, they also had fixed camera angles too. In RE Code Veronica they got rid of the fixed camera angles, but they returned in RE Remake and Zero. Also in the HD versions of RE Remake and RE Zero you can turn off the original controls.

  Like a lot of people, surely, I have a great fondness for Resident Evils 2 and 4. I remember playing RE2 way back in the day on my buddy's almost busted N64 (it was coated in dry peanut butter since his -at the time- baby sister had tried to put peanut butter in the cartridge port. Still worked, though; they don't make 'em like they used to) and having a blast with it.
  
  I actually didn't get around to playing 4 until after 5, which I still enjoy, but 4 showed me how much of a hollow shell its sequel was. 4 decided to lean into its own campiness in an almost tongue-in-cheek way and it really payed off. RE6, as a game, is fun; if you just want action and solid gameplay you could do worse; the problem is that it's a terrible Resident Evil game.
  
  The series has started to get back on track, though. Between the solid RE: Revelations 2 and the series vindicator that was 7, and the remake of 2 on the horizon, I have high hopes for the series' future.

  I thought Resident Evil 5 was great. It does have more action than the Resident Evil games before, but it did go more into the origin of the virus what started it all. I never played the N64 version of Resident Evil 2. Although it is surprising how they got both scenarios of the game on one cartridge, where as the PS1 version of the game needed two discs.

  Eh I didn't like 5. Not after playing 4 before it, I disliked the forced co-op aspect of it. I rebought 4 on PS4 and played the first parts and while still one of my favorite PS2 games it didn't age well. The controls were groundbreaking at the time but now they feel dated. I mean you have to hold a button to pull out your knife and you can't walk while holding your knife. I can deal with not walking while aiming though. It's a bit more realistic because unless you have a shotgun you're going to want to be still while aiming.

  I don't think RE2 Remake will have the old controls. As it seems to have the same inventory from RE7, item boxes too probably. I didn't mind the outdated controls, but they were better in the old Resident Evil games with the tank controls and fixed camera angles.
