Idk where the old topic went. There was one discussing the Fang comics. I finally got my hands on issue #2 and really enjoying it. Anyone else loving these comics? -

unfortunately the user that made the original thread deleted their account, so many of their threads were gone also; most of the information I have been posting about the fang comic has just been in the IDW/Archie/Fleetway Comics thread but it would be nice to have a thread just for the fang mini-series again
if you haven't seen my recent post in that thread, issue 3 is going to be delayed until april 3, but it still says issue 4 will release april 24 which is interesting; all the issues will also be collected into one trade paperback (TPB) and sold in october of this year
as for how I feel abt the fang the hunter mini-series overall, I'm really enjoying it, there's some parts I'm not a fan of and I have my worries abt team hooligan (or fang's gang as they're called in the IDW continuity) and whether they're going to stay together or not by the end of issue 4, since this mini-series is supposed to take place before superstars I'm just "assuming" there's going to be an explanation for bark and bean's absence in superstars, even though there doesn't have to be, tbh
but I'm enjoying all the things that are happening in the overall story, I like that the b plot w/ sonic and tails looking for the disappearing ship and how it's going to have them cross paths w/ fang's gang again; I also like that we're seeing more of angel island and its zones in issue 2, I'm especially a fan of a certain zone making a reappearance towards the end of issue 2 (I won't say anything for the others that haven't read it yet) I'm hoping to have my full thoughts and opinions on the fang mini-series as a whole better figured out so I can write some kind of review but I would also be interested in other's opinions on the series since I worry my opinion is skewed since team hooligan are absolutely my favourite characters ever -

Oh, thank you...
... Ahem...
THE WARP TOPAZ???
WHAT DO YOU MEAN THE WARP TOPAZ???
SO FANG IS TECHNICALLY CONNECTED WITH MODERN NOW? WAS THAT REMOTE ISLAND THE HARD-BOILED HEAVIES SAID THEY FOUND IT ON WAS THE SAME ONE STARLINE FOUND IT "years" LATER? SO DOES THAT MEAN THE 900TH ADVENTURE WAS THE SECOND TIME IT GO PUT BACK IN IT'S PLACE? Assuming it'll get put back by the end of the story.
WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAAAAAAAAAAAN???
Though seriously, its super cool how they foreshadowed the Warp Topaz, and subsequently used it to slightly tie the Classic branch of the comics with the mainline ones. Though I wonder if they'll tie in stuff even more...
Too wishful a' thinking? Maybe. But you gotta wonder. -

I was so caught up in classic-era that I thought the 8th Chaos Emerald would genuinely be some kind of cop-out 8th emerald like how Sonic the Fighters had 8 emeralds just bcuz there were 8 characters in the game; or that the Phantom Ruby would somehow make a reappearance since it's been confirmed that it exists in both modern and classic canon due to its time/dimension warping abilities
but when they revealed this elusive 8th emerald was the Warp Topaz I felt the same way, I assumed they weren't going to bring it back for another story since like you said it was put back in it's place, and I assumed modern and classic wouldn't overlap anymore... but of course it all makes sense now that this 8th emerald that was most likely (prior to the reveal) connected to the "disappearing ship" had to be the Warp Topaz
it'll be interesting how everything ends in issue 4, whether the Warp Topaz accidentally warps itself "somewhere" which would lead to the modern continuity or even worse, warp the HBH and Team Hooligan somewhere else to explain their absences in future appearances (I keep really focusing on the fact that this comic takes place sometime before Superstars)
I was already really happy w/ Newtrogic High Zone being mentioned in the Fang mini-series but now I'm even more excited w/ the 8th emerald reveal in this issue... but the implications and theories that will be happening for the month until issue 4 comes out will drive me nuts!!!!
