So, in the Sonic Central Event, Sonic Colors Ultimate was announced. It is a remastered version of the original Wii Sonic Colors game with better graphics, cosmetics, Jade Ghost Wisp, and a racing mode against Metal Sonic. It is coming to the Xbox Series X/S/One, PS4/5, Nintendo Switch, and PC (through Epic Games) on September 7, 2021, for $39.99 while the digital deluxe (which includes early access, exclusive music, gold and silver wearables, player icons, and the boost from the Sonic movie) is $44.99.

So what are y'all's thoughts on this? I am honestly hyped but I wish the deluxe version wasn't digital-only. I also wish that there was some DS content but, oh well, maybe there is some more info coming at E3.

I should also mention that this port was not by Sonic Team. It is being handled by Blind Squirrel Entertainment.

I can see why they're doing this. I've heard good about Sonic Colors, and while I only barely played it myself, I totally get the appeal. I think it will give it a better shot at a longer life porting it like this! I may decide to pick it up and see if I still enjoy it and would want to beat it or not. hehe

This comes out in just over a month, what's the hype? I'm going to buy it right away, it will be nice not having to play it with a Wiimote anymore! (don't have the pro controller)

I'm definitely not a Sonic Colors fan. Would far rather see an HD remaster for Adventure, Unleashed, or really any modern Sonic game prior to 2010. That being said, I'm definitely buying this anyway as I want to support the series and the potential for future remasters. I'm also curious to see what kind of improvements are made to the game and how they play out in reality as compared to how they are being presented through marketing thus far.

Sadly, my biggest issues with the game (too short/easy, lack of substance/content, bad writing/story/characterizations) do not seem to be being addressed, but rather they are adding elements to make the game even easier. I'm not even against that, but all that kind of stuff should be toggleable and I doubt it is. Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania (new game coming for another one of my favorite series, Monkey Ball) by contrast is doing literally everything right so far. They are adding countless features for veterans and new players alike, and most importantly making all such features toggleable so players have the power to customize their experience. Games are supposed to be customizable: give the player the power to make the experience as casual or as challenging as they like. Monkey Ball gets this.

All things said, I'm still looking forward to playing Colors Ultimate and I'm very happy for everyone who are big fans of the game and are very hyped for this. I also preordered a special edition off of Amazon Japan with a lot of cool collectibles that come with it so looking forward to that.

Yeah these are my same problems with the game. I guess I don't have a huge problem with it because it is all original. I liked Generations a lot but it being all old levels was just ok for me. I love those old levels and I know that's what the whole game is based around but I just like new stuff.

Really looking forward to playing this one again. Shortly after this got revealed, actually started playing Colors for Wii again, and played it a bit awhile back on my DS. May wait until Christmas for this one, I am looking forward to seeing how the game looks in HD. Always remember Planet Wisp looking absolutely amazing given the Wii wasn't the most powerful system when compared to Xbox 360 and PS3 at the time.

I am really forward to playing this Game, But I don't have the money so I have to buy it on Christmas. Sonic Colors Ultimate might be good if I can Play the Game, and Sonic Colors Ultimate might be the Game of the Year for Me.

Looks like Sonic Colors Ultimate is getting good reviews. It currently has a 77 on Metacritic. Just wanted to point that out.

I noticed that, which is in line with what the original scored, right? I want to get this but I just bought a bunch of movies. lol So I may have to wait but it does look gorgeous.
