SAGE is the SONIC AMATEUR GAMES EXPO. It is an annual event where the Sega Genesis and Sonic Rom Hacking communities come out to show off their newest work. Some of these mods are for the original Genesis games themselves, and may occasionally be added to the Sega Megadrive Collection on Steam as Steam Workshop Mods. More recently, however, many SAGE entries are original games running on home built engines, or even 3D engines. SAGE is where things like Sonic 2 HD and Sonic Mania were ultimately birthed from. If you like Sonic games, SAGE is usually a great event to look forward to.


Apparently some people are remaking Sonic 06 in the Unity engine! I'd be interested to see for myself how much they have improved the physics/glitches. I can tell right away that the loading it better though.

Sonic Ages looks like what I'd want Sonic Mania 2 to aim for as far as Sonic's look goes. I'd love a good hand drawn sonic.

It looks amazing. The controls feel kinda clunky though. I can tell they're definitely playing with the physics and stuff to see if they can make Sonic control better.

This game looks awesome, I love fighting games and Sonic so it mixes perfectly!

Actually saw both days of it (I know that this might go on for a few more days, but to one of my fave YouTube'ers SomeCallMeJohnny it's two days since he was allowed to stream for two days, both yesterday and the 31st of August. All of the games he touched upon were awesome, some weren't even Sonic/SEGA games at all but I still had a good time.

Now for the Sonic Hacking Contest that takes place later this year.....Oh boy, heheh...Oh. Boy......

I remember seeing this awhile back it looks like it has come quite away in physics. I love the hand drawn look and definitely would like to see future official games like this too but I know Sega won’t have the courage because there’s no nostalgia with it.

Sonic Battle for Station Square

I have to say @ this is one interesting game. I watched the video. Can't say I'd care to play it but it might be good!

Sonic Islands is actually a good looking 3D Sonic game! I've never liked how any 3D fangames looked/played but this actually looked pretty cool.
