This might mean something, or it might not. I don't know what exactly the difference between "cartoon violence" and "fantasy violence" is. For comparison, Minecraft is also stated to contain "fantasy violence".

If I had to guess, I'd say that the higher rating is due to Shadow attacking living beings (like the Biolizard and Doom's Eye) in his campaign, as opposed to the original Generations, where Sonic only directly attacks robots.

Shadow the Hedgehog (2005) was also rated with Fantasy Violence w/ its E10+ Rating when I went back to check, it also seems like the difference between cartoon and fantasy violence is, like you said, living beings in a sense but also if characters are unharmed or not by said violence

Sonic x Shadow Generations will be getting a panel at Anime Expo this year! (Sonic the Hedgehog Official Twitter) There'll also be an animation shown off at this event titled "Dark Beginnings" and also presenting this event as "A New Era of Shadow" which is really exciting!

SEGA has encouraged ppl to reply to the tweet w/ questions by the end of this month, and there'll be a chance that some of them will be answered at the panel! the panel is July 6, so this event is less than 2 months away

i'm so excited by the prospect of seeing shadow's backstory animated, especially if it'll be anything like knuckles' prologue short for frontiers! it's being worked on by a different animation studio, but i have to imagine they'll use a similar style regardless.

The Summer Games Fest trailer for this year featured some footage of Shadow Gens. The footage isn't anything new, but it does essentially confirm that we'll be seeing more of the game this Friday.

That's good to know! This is one of the few games I'm interested in this year.

MysteryLupin on twitter has been posting information about SXSG today, including a release date, box art, and apparent pre-order bonuses! the leaked release date is October 25, with the price being $49.99 (I'm assuming USD)
