Yeah, it is coming to DVD and Blu-Ray eventually. There's a preorder up for it on Amazon
I do believe that the first episode is the best out of the six. Probably because it's the only episode directed by the director of the movies (Jeff Fowler). -

No spoilers but how is the show? Looks like Paramount Plus has a free trial option so I'll probably sign up for that and then immediately cancel my subscription after I've watched the show lol -

The fanbase is very polarized on it.
Personally? The first two episodes are great, but after that, it starts to fall apart. No spoilers, but Wade gets way too much focus in the later episodes compared to Knuckles (despite Wade not even being advertised on any of the show's the posters), and the show ends very abruptly. I guess I should also mention, Sonic, Tails, and Maddie don't appear after the first episode at all. You'd think they'd have a scene of Knuckles returning to their house after leaving it in the first episode, but no, the show cuts off without resolving it.
There is a post-credit scene, but I'd advise you not to expect much from it.
On the positive side, the show can be really funny at moments. It's just not what I expected or wanted from a show starring Knuckles. -

I still need to finish my review for Sonic HQ on it, but my thoughts kind of echo the rest of the fandom's for the most part.
I will say though that I did think it was a good series and a lot of fun to watch.
The top three best parts I thought were the A. Character Arch for both Knuckles and Wade, B. The animation for Knuckles, Pachachamac and C. The action sequences. Bonus points for introducing some lore and a call back to Sonic 1 and 2 especially with the war between the owls, and the "Flames of Disaster" Easter Egg.
I feel like it fell short with all the human scenes. I can understand Wade wanting Knuckles to be introduced to his family, but there was just WAY too much focus and emphasis on them.
The premise of Knuckles training an apprentice was great, and I could actually see that angle being used in the games' canon since he is the last echidna. If he has no biological descendants, I could see him adopting and/or taking someone under his wing to protect the Master Emerald so that it remains protected well after he's gone. (I don't think he's immortal, but the unfortunate victim of being the last survivor of his clan. However, I'm still willing to believe there could be other echidnas out there that haven't been discovered yet. I really wish they hadn't made Sonic Chronicles not-canon.)
Slightly off topic: But I did have a theory that maybe the Master Emerald creates a new echidna to guard it every generation. But maybe I'm wrong. It's like a curse placed on the echidna line that they now only exist to protect it after trying to exploit its power in the past. Perhaps Knuckles will end up breaking that later on. -

So did anyone here actually like this show? I'm not going to beat around the bush. I thought it royally sucked! Wade was annoying as all hell, for a show called Knuckles, Knuckles was barely in it. The big dance/play scene in the fourth episode (which coincidentally is where I stopped watching) made me question if the writers were on drugs, product placement like you wouldn't believe (suddenly I have a hankering to eat cool ranch doritos while shopping on facebook marketplace). I mean, couldn't we have gotten a show where Knuckles had to find the Master Emerald with the help from some colorful characters, hmmm, maybe a crocodile and a chameleon? Idk, just throwing ideas out there. -

I 100% agree with you here. The show has many problems, and I don't even know where to start.
You can tell most of the writers for the show never played a Sonic game, but I think the problem actually goes a lot deeper than that.
I think every problem in the show stems from the fact that most of the writers didn't even watch the movies.
And you can tell this because of how often the show contradicts them. For instance, there's a song about Knuckles that plays at the end of the second episode, and it begins with "He's a big red warrior who came from outer space on a mission to destroy the freaking human race". This is just blatantly incorrect. In the second film, Knuckles came to Earth to hunt Sonic, and never had anything against a single human (Robotnik aside). But whoever wrote the song/episode had no idea about this because they probably didn't watch the movies. And this is a reoccurring thing in the show. Knuckles' dad fights the owls alongside Knuckles, which contradicts the films, where he tells Knuckles to stay behind.
And so, because most of the writers never played the games or watched the movies, they only had vague ideas about the characters, and what fans wanted from the show. I'd be surprised if half the writing staff even knew who Rouge the Bat was.
Incidentally, the first episode is by far the best, and that's because it was the only episode directed by Jeff Fowler, the director of both films.
Now, regardless of what you or I think of the series, it quickly rocketed up to being the most popular show on the service, and there are rumors floating about that Paramount wants to work on a Shadow TV series. If that actually happens, I'm just hoping something changes, because the Knuckles series left a very bad tase in my mouth for so many reasons. -

Yeah, the whole thing was a mess and it's indictive of where tv writing is nowadays. Of course there's no way to know for sure because I can never be a kid again, but even as a child who was obsessed with Sonic, I still don't think I would have liked this show.

I've also heard people make the argument that part of the reason Knuckles isn't in the show much is because of the cost of CGI. Well, if that's the case then the show shouldn't have been made in the first place. If you can't make a decent show with the limitations you have, then don't make it, but hey at least Pepsi, a little known small business got some well-earned exposure. Seriously, when I hear references to Doritos or Facebook Marketplace, and there not being tied into a joke, I feel like I lose brain cells. Like do the writers think we're stupid?
Also, and this is a minor thing, I get that most of the writers are probably Gen Xers and old millenials still stuck in the 80s, but what's with all the 80s music? I tend to associate Sonic with the 90s. Personally, I would prefer more of the in game music and less licensed music, but if it's going to be in there, why not give it a 90s or early 2000s vibe?
Anyway, grown adult ranting about a kids show over. Lol! I'm just more upset that I'm starting a week long stay-cation and I was hoping for a good tv series to kick it off and I didn't get it. Oh well.
