shocked no one has mentioned this on the forums yet! the first episode of the shadow gens promotional animation was posted a week ago, with the next two episodes scheduled to be posted on october 3rd (tomorrow!!!) and october 10th!

and... god, where do i even begin with this??? it's absolutely STUNNING. the animation is gorgeous, the writing and voice acting is high quality, and there's some truly haunting scenes in here, beyond anything i would have expected to see from a sonic animation like this. there's so much to talk about here, and it's only the first episode! we're getting two more of these, and judging by the teaser trailer, at least one of those will include the rest of team dark too!!

there's so much more i want to say about this first episode, but i'll save my thoughts for now for the sake of potential spoilers. but man. this is so exciting it's hard for me to put into words.

I'll save my thoughts as well but man, having just watched the second episode got me all giddy.

It's surreal seeing Sonic characters being this well animated, and such underutilized characters getting that treatment as well, I mean wow. Brings a tear to my eye, I swear.

it is!! i'm so happy that lesser-used characters are being featured in something like this again. especially omega, he's such a funny character and plays off of rouge and shadow really well, yet he constantly gets overlooked. it's a real shame.

linking the second episode in here for convenience. i still can't get over just how good this animation is, all of the action scenes are such a delight, and i LOVE how many details from the games they're incorporating into this.

and the more emotional moments are done so well too, for both episodes so far. i love that we're getting to see so much more of shadow and maria's relationship, when the most we got from the games before were a few brief cutscenes and two levels from shadow's game that probably didn't even happen in the first place.

plus, seeing him with the rest of team dark is always a treat. his dynamic with rouge is always going to be one of my favorites, they're so funny to watch.

    episode 3 released!

there's a lot of great dialogue in this one, and I think this is my favourite episode out of them all... this genuinely is the content I wish we had back in 2005-2010 for Sonic content bcuz it feels like we've finally gone back to using the characters we've had for years and ahhhh Rouge talking to you-know-who was actually what really got me excited, idk I miss GUN being mentioned and Rouge's involvement with GUN and even the way you-know-who is being portrayed now just... it's all good and I'm really happy we finally got smth like this :')

also, all the episodes were compiled together into one vid on the official Sonic the Hedgehog YT!

with a surprise at the end Wink

ahhh, i'm glad someone else posted the last episode in here! i've been super busy the past week and haven't had the chance myself

that last episode... oh, man, do i have thoughts about it. first of all, i really loved the scene of shadow attacking the gun vehicle. i mean, the missile grab? are you KIDDING me?? and the teleporting, and the chaos control... god, it's just so cool. and tower was such a fun surprise, both for this episode and the second one! his portrayal was really good, and im glad to see that they gave him his name from the archie comics!! it's really nice to see them directly referencing the archie comics at all, even if it's just a minor detail like this. and god, what an ending. it almost made me tear up on rewatch.

im really glad that they posted a full version of all the episodes, too. really makes you appreciate how well it flows as one full episode. i especially like how between episode 1 and 2 they transition from showing the blown-up moon to the intact moon to visually indicate the time period. and the fact that the moon is shown damaged from what happened in sa2 to begin with makes me so happy to see. especially with how gorgeous the destroyed moon looks, with the ring of debris around it. it's such an interesting design, i really hope it sticks around.

also, i like the small tie-ins to the generations plot. i love that rouge bribed shadow into coming to sonic's birthday party, that's hilarious. and it's interesting that the intel rouge stole for gun was about the time eater. makes me wonder if this will play any actual significance in the game story.

i would keep going but it's late where i am... if i don't stop now i could probably ramble about this forever, i just adore this animation.

I just watched the whole thing. All I can say is...wow. How has there not been a full fledged Sonic series in this style?

Watched it all when I started the game and I gotta say, it is pretty awesome! I wish that we had an animated tv series in this style.
