As you can see here, the design for the Movie Sonic has been leaked out, this is very offical as it was found on the website on someone related to the movie.
Also stated on this website, Sega plans to branch out the Sonic brand into four series, Classic, Modern, Animation and Movie, this probably means the animation has a different design too, keep in mind, IDW uses the modern design but is otherwise not listed here

You know there is a word out there to describe this leak of Sonics live action form....

Well, its not as bad as I thought it would be and yet it still manages to be pretty bad. lol

Yeah I feel the same way. It's not good but it could have been even more horrific if it went more like the real animal.

I will watch it but I still don't have any hope for it as the project got canned by its original movie studio.

I have good news, these designs are not the final designs.

Tails channel confirmed that sonics final design will look different from these ones.

Only one that looks absolutely terrible in my opinion is that disgusting '06 style render. The others are alright, but they could definitely do better.

I guess my main question through all this has been "What was wrong with the designs we already had?" But, eh.
