EarthBound is quite good. I really enjoyed playing it, as well as the prequel EarthBound Beginnings despite the much higher difficulty.
Perhaps one of my favorite things about the first two games is that they're very heavily based in more modern times than your typical RPG, with EarthBound in particular even having quite a lot of real life pop culture references. It still feels pretty unique for an RPG in terms of setting and feel. -

So, good news bad news time:
Good news: Nintendo just announced that Mother 3 is coming to Nintendo Switch Online.
Bad news: It's only coming in Japan.
Somehow, this is exactly what I expected would happen, and I'm still disappointed.

yeah, I had the suspicion also that if mother 3 was going to get a rerelease it would be JP only
I don't blame them for being hesitant on releasing it in NA, they would need a team to translate it in english since I don't see ninty as a company that would just use clyde mandelin's translation even if he's given permission for his translation to be used 1-1. they've just never seemed like a company that would do smth like that (sega does...)
and even if they did go through the effort of translating and releasing it I don't think many ppl outside of the diehard fanbase would purchase it, and if ninty doesn't see that as absolutely profitable they would rather not bother w/ the effort... which is a huge shame since it's been a meme even w/ the company that ppl want mother 3
