Did you know Discord likes kicking puppies and taking candy from babies? Discord also says Sonic's Schoolhouse is the best Sonic game, and Sonic Adventure is mid-tier garbage. It's true. Really. I don't need a source. You must believe.
That would be caught up as sarcasm, I would assume.
In general, I like what Twitter and, maybe, Facebook policies were during COVID. They simply tagged posts as requiring more critical thought before believing in them, instead of directly suppressing them.
At the other side of the line, I dislike Facebook approach of suspending users for words used in posts, say slang words or insults. Even worse, they apply these filters in Messenger, which unless clearly stated, any average person would consider to be private communications.
At a quick glance, the Discord policy was meant for COVID misinformation. I think this is an exceptional case, being a global pandemic, and I doubt they will enforce for other diseases. I would even think they should stop enforcing such policies over time, once COVID is mitigated or under reasonable global control.
At the end of the day, I'm in about companies enforcing this kind of policies for facts or recommendations coming from experts. For instance, it is absurd that the USA has a high rate of unvaccinated population because of the anti-vax movement.
I suppose the USA government doesn't care about a few thousands deaths as long as enough population remains to keep the political status quo.
Lastly, and frankly, I think these policies, from Discord or homologous big social corps, are aimed to the USA market. As most people in that country seem to think the 1st amendment to be broader than it really is, even worse when compared to other free nations around the globe that have nothing to envy from the USA regarding social stability.
I won't bother with Discord's approach; but I did bother with Facebook and honestly use it less every day.
