RE: Are people being way too harsh on Sonic Team?

Those are good points and as mention on my previous post, I do feel that Sonic Team is doing a bit too much experimentation with some of the recent games. It is a hit or miss, mostly miss. And as much as I know they are doing these experimentation partially because they fear that they don't want to repeat the same mechanics over and over again, it most of time backfires on them more than benefiting them.
Again, there are games that COULD'VE been good if they either take their time they need to complete it, like Sonic 06, Sonic Boom, Sonic Free Riders and so forth. Alas, the controls were extremely wonky and just left with a frustrating feeling of not being able to enjoy the game. For those that do like the games despite the rates they get, more power to you!
In the case of Sonic Forces, they do miss plenty of opportunities with the story and the gameplay. It isn't a terrible game for sure. However, aside from the character avatar mechanic, which is a great and unique feature after the Sonic fanbase is known to like to create their OCs, it is mediocre. I really wish they can either add more to the Sonic and OCs levels and not forcing Classic Sonic in the game. I personally am okay with the game. And again, for those that enjoyed the game, good for you! But wish they can improve from it.
But overall, at the same time, we must keep a balance of how we express our likes and dislikes on games and not to bash others about liking the bad Sonic games. It is ok to like or dislike something so as long as you don't shove it down on people's throats about it. And to give our honest but reasonable criticism to Sonic Team and SEGA as they are releasing games. Because overpraising them or being childish about it won't go very far.
