Glad to see that Sega was so quick to find someone to essentially reboot the comics. Sad to say but we probably won't have any of the old characters but that was kinda expected.

It's good to see them come back so quickly.
My main wish is that the finale to Mega Drive gets released.

This is Awesome news indeed. I haven't read any of the comics since....shoot, i can't remember but it sounds great that SEGA found somebody to continue the Blue Blur's Legacy.

Yeah it really sucks that those didn't finish! :( Those were good comics! Hopefully we get some cover art for the new issue soon! I also hope it's sold in as many places as the Archie comics. I'm not familiar with IDW, do they publish good comics? What have they published?

Ian Flynn has done some work for them before, they've done Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (this one in particular is what he had a hand in), Transformers, G.I. Joe, Star Trek, My Little Pony, etc.

They've got a pretty good track record, and, unlike Archie, the competence to keep track of their contracts and enough money to fight back against jerks like Penders.

They sound like they have a pretty good repertoire of comics under their belt. Are they as big as Archie? I hope we don't have to wait till the end of the year for teasers of their first issue.

From what I've read on the grapevine, these comics are going to be more game-inspired. IE less or no characters created specifically for the comic. Part of me worries that it's gonna be non-stop classic pandering to get those "classic or die" fans interested.

Nice, not too long from now! Let's take bets on how many characters they kill off from the Archie universe.

Nah I dunno about Classic pandering. It sounds to me more like they want to keep the brand identity more consistent with the games. Which honestly I'm all for since a lot of the Archieverse elements were weird and unnecessarily convoluted as comic book lore tends to get. A reboot that draws from what's established in the games sounds good to me. These could even be the serious game plots people crave in a format that doesn't hamper the experience of a fun game. But I'm probably being overly optimistic there.

The possible irony of this thought is I could see them bringing back classic Archie characters to pander to fans of the old comics. But I guess we'll have to see how things go.
