First of all in the RP section I've had complaints that someone RPs and put a lot of thought into it by having a paragraph or something and someone comes in and posts just some one line sentence to move it on. Then with people completely going off topic in a role play not even connecting the actual story which I have already experienced in my short time back to the RP section by seeing some role plays. People just seem to talk about their character/whatever and have no connection to the plot at all. That just seems wrong... |

It all depends on the rp. There are some that say "Need you're own story." Most of the time, it's best to focus on your character. |

Well, when people make rps and not attend them, the ones that joined get bored because lack of story being brought by the person who started/created the rp. So, its not only the people that joins fault if the rp isn't going anywhere. The person making the rp should be aware that they need to attend their rp closely and be on it 24/7. making sure the rp is going the way it should, posting more then the ones that joined, and not be the one left be hind in their own rp as well as mae sure no one else gets left behind. So don't blame the people that join if you can't handle your own danm rp. sorry I'm being kinda mean but, it just ticks me off when people make an rp and lock it later on because they can't handle it or don't have the time for it and get ticked off. If you don't have a lot of time to manage an rp then make it private. even with private rps they still die and people are like "bump for the 10th time." So those are my thoughts on the "problems" in the rp section. |

I agree with Seb and lilsonic. I focus on my character in RP posts a lot of the time and I take pride in it. But that doesn't mean I'm pompous or ignorant, it's always relevant to other characters. If every RP was direct, to the point and all the characters had no inside conflicts or fifteen minutes of fame at certain points, it wouldn't be interesting. Then again, it all depends on the roleplay thread you're in. When roleplay threads go silent, for example, sometimes self-focused or one-line character responses are necessary. They get people thinking and/or going. I think what matters the most is that people roleplay at least. It could be worse, everyone could just leave this section to die. No RP in my Sonic Blast RP section? no thx ill have a cheezburgar, :| |

I disagree. Sure, your character might well stand there with a few words to say, but there's more to roleplaying than dialogue. Example, his/her eyes could have caught a bird flying gently overhead, or perhaps he decided to shuffle his feet nervously. Maybe a scarf drooped down too low and so she tucked it back into place. Besides, giving someone something to read; that enriches the roleplaying no end. Give them something to bounce off. Look at most of the posts made by the good players in the tournament for example - they've given their opponent things to read and pick up on. There's no reason why everyone can't post like this normally. |

The "REAL" problem with what Mod had spoke upon, is that there are so many lazy people that wish not to read a lot, yet they want to rp and want to join an rp. You can not hope to last long in an rp if you do not read the whole thing. But, that is why we have Advance and Beginner rps. not all people want to go into detail, declare what they are doing every moment, what their surrounding is, how to react with their surrounds, ect. Those that seek fast pacing, battle ready, action pacted rps normally go for beginner rps. Every now and then they will venture on into the advance. Also, whats the point of having your character in an rp if you do not add a little background information about your while rping. That is the whole point. Role Playing! wording actions and feelings, as well as keeping your characters background in mind! there fore, having your characters background connect some how with the rp. Then again, you do not want to over do it either. Trying to turn the rp into your characters background story is just plan idiotic. With all that said, people just need to, as lilsonic stayed, be mind full and fully attend to their rp. involve their characetrs back to a point where you are not over taking the plot( this can be done by having a battle trigger a flash back of other battle involing your characters past), read everything that is posted, by the creator and the others that join, DO NOT HOG THE RP WITH ANOTHER MEMBER! as in posting right after another with out giving others a chance to post. As that also kills the plot as well as the other characters, because you are ignoring them as if they were never there. and at last, know where you stand in rping. If you are a beginner, then try and move up to advance, see how its like and ask for help as well as tips by doing a private rp with an advance rper. as for all you advance rpers, act like one. and do not, I repeat, DO NOT, think you are better then beginner rpers. most likely they rp better then you |

Well then how do you suggest we prevent this? Make a guide telling RP owners/players to ignore people who talk about themselves all the time or don't even post anything worthwhile? I want this section to be fun where people go to, to have a good time, not have it unenjoyable. |

That stands for truth. I belive no one aint able to create an advanced rpg. It just depends on the interest. If they dont feel like writing a bunch of paragraphs, then it's all their own desicion. No one should say any other thing. Though if they are intended to learn from those who enjoy writing paragraphs with detailed information about their surroundings. It's just the matter to ask for help as you mentioned. And to Neo, almost every rpg that is created starts with almost a small side story about their own caracters before turning into a conversation, an action between members and so on. I belive someone would refer it as introduction. Though there is alas times were would you want to skip that and actually get knowing the caracters by interacting and playing along, then to read through long posts with background information about other caracters. That might be a reason why people get boored. And the so called creator, waits, and continue to wait until he feels there is nothing to progress with because of the interest and time between posts have been to long. While that passes onto lilsonic. Because you mentioned something about the creator usually is the one that stands responsfully for leaving an rpg dead. Though that would leave onto us all. Beacuse no one have seemed to manage keeping a story alive. Instead they deside to slack on the one anc create another rpg, totaly forgetting about the first one. |

No, that's not what I mean. You don't have to have giant paragraphs to be good. I mean one line posting... Like "Shadow went over to the bakery and asked sammy to toast him some bread"... That doesn't move the story at all... It makes it harder for other people to make new ideas for the plot... Plus then you have people who are off in their own little world. I guess if later on they connect the stories it would be good. |

It's not one of those things that can really be fixed. You can fix a broken character, you can fix a broken plot, but you can't fix people, especially since no one's broken from the start, everyone's just unique. You can't tell a person, "You're doing A wrong, do A this way," or, "don't do A, do B". Most people roleplay because they find it fun. Fun gets taken away when you impose restrictions or bash or criticize them harshly. I agree with the stuff like character one-liners as I previously emphasized in my last post. They're only really necessary when things are getting dead. But you shouldn't take it seriously; we're all having fun (at least, some of us), and it shouldn't go anywhere beyond that to the point where roleplaying becomes a chore and/or theorized. I think you guys are taking RP for granted, just give it a rest. As I said before:
