America once had the problem of bedbugs under control; however, with the advent of international travel bedbugs have been spread everywhere. So bed bugs could be everywhere, even in the high class hotels. If you DO get bedbug bites, then there's a good chance you've taken them home with you. And getting rid of them won't be fun. In the more extreme cases you'll have to destroy pretty much anything with fabric, so you'll have to get rid of your mattresses, sheets, clothes, couches, and even carpet.

If you want to avoid waking up with some nasty bites and risk bringing the infestation home with you, then there are a couple good ways to check.

First. Look under the sheets. If you see spots of blood, then that's a sign that bedbugs were crawling around there over night.

Second. Look behind the headboard. If you see dead bug exoskeletons, those are bedbugs.

If you see either or both of these things, get the hell out of there.

I thought every bed had bedbugs that were mircoscopic? Yikes, I didn't know there were bedbugs that were that big.

Well bedbugs that feed on your blood and the bugs that happen to live in your bed and feed off of dead skin cells and such are two different things.

@Kurtis: They're in Canada too now.

I'm glad I don't have things like that. We do have a bug man that is suppose to spray for bugs every now and then, but most often than not, he is going after ants and fleas.

Well I'm glad I have none. I might have the occasional spider climb into my bed though. Not too often.

Bedbugs, AKA Cimex lectularius

Large enough to be seen by the naked eye.

And they leave some pretty nasty bites.

Owch! Those look worse than ticks! Especially the bites! Do they kill you like ticks? Do the grow as they feed on blood like ticks? Good thing that there is none in my house. I'm sorry for you Duckroll. Those look nasty!

They feed like ticks do I think. I don't know about being deadly, but they can spread disease. Mostly bacterial infections, but sometimes the pass on Hepatitis.

Now that is just gross and also strange that you would allow it to get that bad before you had your house bug bombed or sprayed.
